Advise Wanted: Mods, Tanks, Bottomfeeders?

Not open for further replies.
I have been vaping for a month now and am looking to upgrade. I started with a V2 ultimate kit andry I'm very happy with their product. I love the flavor of the Red cartomizors and would really like to buy the juice by itself if they ever make it available. A cartomizer is all that I have used so far. I did get some blank cartos and cleaned some of the prefilled ones to try different juices. I bought some different tobacco flavored juices (johnson creek original, vapor4life cowboy--have a couple others on order to try) but am still looking to find the one that "is it!" What I do know, however, is that I'm starting to get tired of worrying about charging batteries, carrying spare cartos, filling blank cartos, etc. So, now I am looking for is a mod that will:

1. Be as simple to use as possible -- something I can just grab and go
2. Has a battery that will last all day
3. Can last a day without needed new cartos, refilled, etc
4. Produces a consistent, clean vape without a burnt taste
5. Looks nice and is sturdy

I've read reviews on some bottom mods, battery mods. the go-go, and some stuff on tanks. It seems that the battery mods (i.e. provari) will fit my battery life needs, but unless I'm missing something, still is limited to the life of the carto. The go-go sounds like it would fit my needs, but I'm concerned about it not being interchangable with anything else. As far as I can tell, a tank will take care of being able to vape all day without worrying about refills, but I'm not too educated on the quality and set up of these. As far as I can tell, the bottom feeder mods seem to be the way to go, but they seem like they might be a little big to carry around all day.

So, I am looking for suggestions and other peoples recommendations, opinions, etc on the best way to proceed. I'm also open for recommendations on good tobacco flavor juices, although I realize that's a subjective thing. Thanks you!

It depends on what you mean by "all day". Anywhere from 5-7 hours on a charge can be found on quite a few better battery PV's. The variable volt Darwin has the longest battery life at 21+ hours on a charge for heavy users.

For quality build and performance on a fixed volt PV that is both 5 volt and can also be a "feeder" type, I would look at the GLV2 or 3. It's so well built it comes with a lifetime warranty:

5 volt GLV 2 or 3: Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

The most technologically advanced and the one with the longest time on a charge, I would look at the variable volt Darwin:

Darwin: Nhaler

Hi tim2breathe! Welcome to the ECF!

It sounds to me what you are looking for is two things. A big battery mod and a tank or a bottom feeder mod. I, personally, love the combination of my ProVari and my Liquinator tank system. Some also swear by bottom feeders because of their use of an atomizer rather than a cartomizer.

Since you are a cartomizer user, and that is what ultimately has lead you to become a vaper, I would say stick to what you know works for now. That leads into my suggestion: The ProVape-1 or the ProVari.

The ProVape-1 is a pretty reasonably priced big battery mod. It is a 3.7v mod that allows you to use two 14500 batteries that will last you all day and well into the night. It will also be a familiar vape style to you because you are used to 3.7v. You can purchase a kit at ProVape E-Cigarettes: Buy Electronic Cigarettes & Smokeless Cigarettes for $129.95. The kit includes the ProVari-1, two 14500 batteries, a 510 atomizer adapter, a 510 atomizer, and the charger (which will also charge up to 18650 batteries).

The ProVari is a lot like the ProVape-1 in that it is a big battery mod that gives you the versatility of long battery life. The biggest difference between the two is that the ProVari is a variable voltage mod - meaning you can adjust the voltage to your liking. I use mine at 5.3v with a standard resistance cartomizer inside my Liquinator tank. The ProVari is a bit on the pricey side - $159.99 for the base model, $179.99 for the chrome versions. There is no kit. That is simply for the mod itself. You will have to purchase the batteries and the charger separately, which will run roughly $35 for the pair, depending on which batteries you choose. The mod allows you to run two 14500 batteries, or, with the purchase of the extended cap, an 18650 battery. I suggest doing the research on these models and determine which one suits you better.

Now for the tanks.

As I said, I, personally, use the Liquinator from Vaporescence - eCigarettes, Accessories, US Made eLiquids and have loved it so far. There are many types of tanks in this vaping world - Liquinator, MAP tank, other CE-2 tanks, etc. I, personally, have used CE-2 tanks in the past and have absolutely hated them. They do no wick correctly, constantly have a burning taste when they don't wick, and they're too fiddly.

The new MAP tanks are very nice and do not have this issue. I haven't personally used it, but that is what I am hearing.

Regardless of what tank you use, it eliminates the need to refill cartomizers, or drip constantly, when you are out an about.

This is, of course, my opinion. Others will have theirs. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide what is right for you.

I currently use two different mods, the Provari and a Reo Grand. The Provari is an excellent mod as it is a varible voltage. If you decide to go with a mod like the Provari, I would suggest that you get a tank of some sort. There are several different tanks being sold and a 5ml tank will most likely last you all day. I also really like my Reo Grand. a very user friendly, simple to use bottom feeder. It uses a 18650 battery and has a 6ml juice bottle and is made out of machined aluminum. I think either the Provari w/Tank or the Reo Grand would suit your needs.

I think you should try a Reo Grand with 306 LR atty.
Reason:
1. Reo Grand is a bottom feeder with 6ml juice bottle. Unless you vape more than 6ml a day, this pv is all you need. Just grab and go.
2. Reo Grand use a 18650 AW IMR battery, that's 1600mAh. An all day vaping without charging or swapping batteries.
3. You won't need refilling whatsoever, since it's 6ml bottle built in. Just push the bottle to wet the atty before a vaping session.
4. Once you get a hold "squonking", it's the most clean & consistent vape, no burnt taste.
5. Reo Grand are sturdy piece of art. Go check the reviews about it.

I second this but use with a cartomizer. You'll get an extra mil of juice.

I second the ProVari/Liquinator combo. Besides being what I use now, I believe it covers what you're looking for. The ProVari is a VV powerhouse with either battery (18490 or 18650). The Liquinator is a consistent vape from start to finish. No hassle and extremely easy to use. Any mod is going to be limited by the atomizer. They are an electrical product and will fail. That's just the nature of this beast.

Best of luck in your search for the best vape.

Oh, these are just my opinions. I would highly suggest variable voltage on whatever you decide. Being able to dial your mod to your juice for the best taste is just slicker than whale ..... There are quite a few out there. ProVari, Diamanté, Buzz VV, just to name a few. There are some box mods too. Look around and pick what you think is best for you.

I went from a v2 kit to a vmod, and I must say I am very happy w/it. They have gotten the "new" kinks worked out and it vapes like a champ. It is a bottom feeder,w/a 5ml bottle. It is a 3.7vt w/a 14500 batt. It is small, all mechanical and has an on/off so you can throw it in your pocket or whatever and not have to worry about it firing. JMHO :)..

For tobacco, I like the vermillion river kentucky tobacco blends. I also have tried Joogler Juices Joogler Blend and Clint Vapewood. Like them both, and shipping is only $2.00. Both sites have samples. Also bwb maple tobacco is good. There is sooooo many tobacco flavors out there. Good Luck and welcome to ECF :)...

I still use my kr's. They come in handy when going out to dinner or something like that. But I use the ss/blk xl fluxomizers from gotvapes. They hold 1.8ml of juice so I'm good for a nite out w/a couple of those in my purse :). They're just a lil longer, but if that doesn't bother you then a definite step up from carto's :)

I second this as well. I have a Reo Mini w/ 306 in hand right now. I like the portability of the mini, but do have to change batteries throughout the day. For your requirements, order a Grand. They are great mods.

My vote is for the Reo Grand.
Mine has been modified with a Belt clip and 10ml +2ml capacity. CLICK FOR VIDEO

Still trying to figure out how to make a variable voltage with two 18650 batteies like the photoshop pic below.

I have a ScrewDriver MKII, 900ma battery, and a Tornado Mega tank. For heavy vaping, it lasts about 1/2 a day. Not the full day but its more reasonably priced. For me the 2ml tank lasts just about as ling as the battery. so when juice is low, so is the battery. If I get anything better it will probably be the Pro-Vari. As soon as I find a wad of cash!

The question I posed was my first post to ECF and I can't thank everyone enough for the honest opinions and suggestions. I looked at all of the mods recommended, read reviews, watched u-tube commentary, and ended up ordering the Reo Mini along with a 306 and 510 LR atty.

The reason for the mini is it was the only model Reo available -- all the grands were out of stock. I e-mailed Robert, the manufacturer, and he said he was currently working on a lot of 200 new Reo's that will be ready in a few weeks (all other production is suspended until he finishes the lot) which I was going to wait for, but I thought the metal version might be more durable (I really do love the woodvil models though). I have never tried an atomizer, so I ordered both the 306 and 510 low resistance atty's so that I could see what the difference was. I was going to order a Provari with the liquinator tank (looked like a beautiful, really functional set-up), but after adding up the cost of the Provari, tank, atty's, batteries, etc, the cost was $267, so the Reo mini was a little more affordable. I realize I may have to carry a spare 14500 battery with the mini, but I think the 3ml tank should get me through the day.

Now I need to decide on a drip tip type (I don't know if there are major differences) and continue my search for an all day vapor juice. I'll let ya's know how the final set-up works out. Thanks again!

Congrats tim, and welcome new REOnaut!! :)

Sounds like you have already done a lot of research, but just in case you might need it: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...if-reo-your-first-mod-what-you-will-need.html

You should order a drip tip that is fairly transparent for the 306. While you are learning how much juice to add, it helps to be able to see the juice on the atty. Also, since you will need to bring a couple of batteries with you for all-day vaping, one of these is handy: Nylon battery case

Get your post count up and come by the REO forum and say "Hi" Reos Mods
