GeekVape
GeekVape, the company famous for its Aegis line of highly durable and water-resistant mods and great flavor tanks, have just unveiled their latest product, the Aegis Pod. The term “pod” here is a bit of a misnomer as the device is more like an “all in one” in that it has replaceable coils instead of a replaceable pod that is pre-filled with liquid, but like most pod systems the device is small and easy to use. It has a large 3.5ml reservoir for you to add your own choice of liquid and uses the new 0.6ohm G.coil using mesh for superior flavor and vapor. Like all Aegis products, it is IP-67 water-proof and dust proof certified, while its shock absorbent zinc shell helps protect it from falls and drops. It is available in Black, Silver, Gunmetal, and Rainbow colors. If you are looking for a small easy to use device with great flavor and a surprising amount of vapor for its size, and work or play in areas that make you afraid you will damage your vape, then the Aegis Pod just might be what you are looking for.

First Impressions:
I have never owned a Pod or AIO type of device, but I have tried several of them that friends have had and I was never impressed with any of them, but this is Geekvape, so I was not quite sure what to expect. The Pod I received was the rainbow color housing with black leather inset and smoke grey reservoir which was stunning to look at. Pulling the pod from the protective foam insert, you can’t help but notice how light it is but how sturdy it feels to hold. Still, given my previous pod experiences, I was not sure I would like this, but that was about to change…
What it's like to use the Aegis X Zeus Kit:
As always, I like to use a product exclusively for a full week before writing a review. This gives me time to fully explore all the functions and get a really good idea of all the features and performance. Since this is an AIO/Pod system there really aren’t any features or functions to explore, still I wanted to take the full week as a challenge to see if a Pod system could fill my needs without needing to use any other device. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The pod does not come with a coil installed, so first you remove the reservoir by pulling straight up on it, then a coil is just pressed into the coil hole (I added a few drops of liquid to the coil first). Next, you lift the rubber flap covering the fill port and add your favorite e-liquid and snap the reservoir back into place. A special tool is included for removing the coil but the one included is too big for these coils (seems to be the same tool as the Zeus Sub-ohm tank). It might still work, but I had no issues removing the coil without the tool anyway.
Like most mods it has a 5 clicks to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off feature, so I turned it on and took my first pull. First thought: WOW, that was a lot of vapor for a pod system. How much? I would say it is probably more comparable to a single coil simple round wire MTL type RDA than it is to any other Pod type device I have tried. The flavor was just as good too. I will say that with how close the coil is to your mouth this does produce fairly warm vapor so it might pair better with flavors that are suited for warmer vapor (maybe a good apple pie flavor would be perfect) rather than cool flavors like mints, menthols, and the like. Of course, your opinion may be different. For the most part this device was enough to for me to use as my only device for the whole week. I did revert back to using the Geekvape Aegis X with Zeus X dual coil tank a couple of times but I think my problem was that all of the juice I had made up was only 3mg/ml that I use on dual coil RDA type devices. I have zero doubt that if I had made a slightly stronger liquid (6-10mg/ml), I would have had no problem using this as my only device. Needless to say, I am quite impressed with the performance of this little device both in the vapor and flavor department. Actually, if you are coming from a lesser pod type device or even some single coil MTL devices, you may find this quite an upgrade. I let my wife try it out and she said she plans to steal it from me as soon as I am done with my review.
PROS:
CONS:
Thoughts and Observations:
The Aegis Pod is a another solid entry to the Aegis line and is unequivocally the best Pod/AIO type device I have ever tried.
I usually use this section for making suggestions for what I would like to see changed in the next iteration of devices from the company, however, for what this is, I am not sure I would change anything. That in itself says a lot about this little device.
Should YOU get the Aegis Pod?
If you are currently using a true Pod type device but would like to use your own liquid instead of being limited to the manufacturers pre-filled pods or if you are currently using an AIO type device but want more vapor and flavor then absolutely give this a shot. If you are using a full sized mod and tank but are in the market for a smaller more discreet device for work or on the go, then absolutely look no further. Really the only people I would not recommend this to are those that prefer a really cool vape, those that prefer pre-filled pods, or those that prefer multi-coil cloud monsters and are not in the market for something more discreet. I think this could work for pretty much everyone else.

PROS:
- Impressive vapor production and flavor from such a small device.
- The design aesthetics make this a great looking device.
- The heavy duty housing makes this pod highly durable and relieves fear of damage from dropping it.
- IP67 Water/Dust resistant means you can use this by the pool or in harsh environments without worry.
- Very comfortable to hold.
- Uncomplicated and easy to use.
- Easy to replace coils and refill juice.
- Air flow design makes it highly leak resistant if not leak proof. (I had zero leakage during my tests)
- Good battery life, I got 9-11 hours on a full charge.
- You CAN vape while still charging after just a few minutes of initial charge from a full depletion.
- Good coil life. I used the same coil all week with no noticeable degradation of vapor or flavor. This is with a clear and non-sweet juice (Wintergreen). Darker and more sweet juices may or may not alter results.
- Its small size, ease of use, and leak proof design make it a great device for on the go.
CONS:
- $13-$15 per 5 pack coils (from checking with a few sites).
- Not rebuildable, so if coils become obsolete or sales of it are banned, you will not be able to continue to use this Pod.
- The vapor is quite warm and can be slightly painful if you get your lip too close to the opening (just make sure to put more of the mouthpiece in your mouth to prevent this).
