I broke off chimney by accident its not the way you take them off. Take off threw the tail pulling the wicks an coils with chimney on. Punch them out the chimney threw the tail section with small punch tight pressed but comes off easy this way. Rebuild like Aspire Nat. on youtube Rip Trippers kind of like Aspire but the Protank version. 12 wrap on 2 mm or smaller what you like on the diameter. I had to increase the the cotton 1 coil on a dual coil system like Protank 3 more cotton. Wants to leak no filler but a couple of trys you will get it. Just larger bow tie coil 2 mm cotton on both ends = 1.6 coils. Then I had to align chimney and punch it with a small blow back on to press fit back in a very tight chimney. Works good. NOTE This coil assembly has a larger bore the protanks fit but many parts even the chimney fit but smaller bores.

Id imagine with the difference between the single and dual setup that kanger offers being a parallel dual build yes you can reproduce a total ohm load equal to a single coil build, but the amount of current flowing across each coil will be different... So a 2 ohm single coil will have "X" amount of current across it depending on your input voltage. In a parallel setup the total ohm's may be 2 also but, one coil could be slightly higher resistance than the other and will pass current differently and hence can mean the difference in flavor from one replacement coil to another(that they are certainly known for having irregular batches and inconsistent coils).

    Hello.
I'm having an issue with my Aerotank 3 coils burning out rapidly.
I'm using 4.2v , which, according to a chart i saw, is the right voltage.
However the coils say 3.5-3.9v on the site.

Sooooo.. why am I burning my coils so fast ?

I,ve never had Kanger coils burn out- amperage on your device if mechanical maybe doing it. All I use AVP on these VAMOS, SVDS, EGO-2 it reduces to max amps at 5 amps. Mechanicals I rebuild at 28 gauge coils. Looks like 36 guage coils in Aerotank 3 coils. I think ?

Can anyone explain the benefit of the new coil design? What does enclosing the wick provide in contrast to the old coils?

I don't think anybody knows why they vape better- Kayfun, Aspire Nautilus like (maybe Kanger knows). I ordered 10 of these enclosed coils.

I am rebuilding same way they do (KANGER) see how that works but with 30 gauge wire so hard to get the tops off with for cotton rebuilds. So I ordered silica and rebuilding with flavor wick and dual coils. I have so 30 guage wire I like the vape I like a challenge.

I am ordering ekwool for a single coil instead of Duals for them Nautilus 28 gauge see how that works cotton works good on those 2mm or smallar Dia. / 8 wrap.

You are not building them the same way. That would require soldering on cold legs to the high resistance nichrome that kanger uses.

I have had good success rebuilding the aero tank MEGA style silica carto/clearo hybrid heads.

1.) Grind a slot on each side of the chimney to release the press fit.
2.) Wrap 32 kanthal about 5 times around a 2mm wick with a pin inserted down the middle
3.) Solder stainless legs on instead of using the kanthal as conductive legs
4.) Use cup style seals from old protanks to seal top of head

This is a lot of work so now I just drip an rba/rda instead of using a tank 24/7. When I'm out and about I tank. When home I drip.

If you're really into rebuilding mega heads you will need to invest in some tools and maybe fabricate a basic press. IMO not worth the hassle. They can have my money for this MEGA atomizer, it's worth it unlike it's predecessors.

As for the predecessors, I rebuild them for 5 cents a pop and about 5 minutes each. I rebuild the old protank heads to single coil as stacked dual coils don't do .... IMO. The biggest hassle is soldering on cold legs so you don't get burned grommets from kanthal legs which generates a funny taste.

To build a basic press for removing and installing MEGA atomizer chimney heads...

You will need to fabricate press tools from a hard wood with a Dremel and also need a basic C clamp.

Using a chain grinder with a turned down dowel rod in my drill press is my best solution so far.

Good luck but IMO for the effort required you're better off rebuilding the old style heads and just reusing the positive post and chimney from the mega heads. The mega heads have larger bore holes in the positive post pin and chimney to accommodate a better draw when wet (the old heads are reduced in diameter too much when coated in juice IMO.)

The slots versus holes are not the real improvement here. It is the larger bore pin and chimney that makes the real difference. As long as you have enough wick in the old style slots, they are not an issue versus the carto style holes in the new MEGA heads.

So over all I would use the MEGA chimney and pin/grommet, then use the old slotted bodies and cup seals. Also rebuild them to a single coil with 2 2mm flavor wicks on top. This is the best hitting head I've come up with for protanks that can be easily rebuilt without special tools. This setup gives you 99% of the improvement of MEGA coils larger bore diameter chimney and pin but eliminates the issue with the press fit and wick installation of the rebuild.

I get 99% of the flavor this way as compared to a cotton dripper. The only flavors I find are too muted using this silica head setup are mild nutty flavors such as peanut butter ejuices. Ie: schmuffer schmutter, grandmaster, pb/banana zj, etc.
