I'm in the market for a new tank. I am considering a Kangertech Aerotank. While I've been doing my homework, I've come across the airflow control base for my protank2. My reason for purchasing a new tank is for the dual-coil atomizers. Is it possible to use a dual-coil atomizer on the protank2 with the airflow control base? If so, which one?

There seems to be a lot of mixed feelings out there on duel coil. I haven't been vaping long so I can't tell you much there other then I use them. I have a kanger aerotank mini. I gotta say i love it. It goes great with my itaste vv. I have no idea how it is compared to a protank with an air control valve. I imagine it is similar though. For me air control is a must. But everyone is different I guess. lol

You can't use a dual coil on a Protank 2, but you can on the Protank 3. My standard rig is a PT3 with version 1 of the Kangertech Airflow Control Valve (the base which replaces the Protank 3's original base). The "version 1" valve is what came on the original (v1) Aerotank, and is available from several online vaping hardware merchants.

I don't like the valve that comes with the Aerotank v2, "version 2" of the Airflow Control Valve. It's VERY stiff and hard to turn. The v1 valve is much easier. In fact, I was worried that the adjustment ring was too loose on the v1, and that it would lose my setting when I put it down and pick it up several times, but it doesn't. It works very well for me.

I have an Aerotank v2, but I don't use it because I don't like the squared-off shape of the top of the tank. The Protank 3 has the nice curve down from the drip tip, which I find much more comfortable.

The range provided by the v1 airflow valve is wider than the v2 as well. You can set it wide open for a VERY airy draw - more airy than the v2 valve set wide open - and it's infinitely adjustable all the way down to a completely closed airflow. The v1 valve's range is 3.7 turns from wide open to fully closed. I keep mine set to one full turn down from wide open, which gives me a nice, fairly open draw with the 1.5Ω v2 (enclosed wick) dual coils.

(P.S. - Also, the v2 airflow control valve whistles when I use it, and it does it at almost every setting. Very annoying. I have yet to hear a whistle from the v1.)

Yes, to run a dual coil, you'd have to use a tank that is built for it. Protank 3, any Aerotank version, etc.

The Protank 2 will not accept the increased height of the dual coil unit. Neither the original base nor any airflow control valve would screw into place and seal a Protank 2 with a Kanger dual coil unit installed.

I haven't tried the "v3" valve like the one on the Genitank. I hadn't even seen the Genitank until you mentioned it, and I went out and Googled it. It's valve looks like a good design, but I don't how tight it'd be to turn without having one in my hand. I'm pretty hooked on my easy-turning v1 valve, but I'm sure I'll try the new v3 valve at some point in the near future.

If your in the market for a new tank check out the aspire tanks. They are much better than kanger in my experience.

Funny you should mention that, I've actually decided to start looking into the Aspire Nautilus.

I watched about 3 hours of reviews on all of the different types of adjustable airflow tanks. The Nautilus just seems to be the best overall product. I really like the fact that it can hold 5ml of juice, it's enough to get me through the day, I seem to find myself refilling my protank2 at least once a day.

The actual airflow control looks to be better designed than the collar system of the AeroTank, and the 2nd and 3rd versions look like they are really difficult to adjust.

Kangertech just made a huge mistake when they made the dual-coil atomizers incompatible with the protank2. Now instead of just buying the new dual-coils, I have to go out and buy a whole new tank. I'm sorry Kanger, but I'm not going to buy essentially the exact same tank that I already own to get the air control valve and a dual-coil atomizer.

What really sealed the deal for me was I found a brand new AUTHENTIC Aspire Nautilus for only $17.

Hello, CKCalmer and LaRosaNK. :) I presently have an AnyVape adapter to use on my ProTank 2's and AnyVape Davides. It's a simple silver ring that comes with a white washer. This coverts the ProTanks 2's and Davides to be able to use the Aspire double coils.

I also have a Kanger air flow controller that the adapter ring can be used on to use the Aspire double coils. I like an airy draw so don't need the air flow controller, but some will like to tighten the draw up a bit.

Hope this week I will be receiving the new Aspire BVC's (single vertical coil) made for NON Nautilus tanks. They are shorter that the Nauti BVC's. I'm going to try them out on my old ProTank 2's and Davides by using the AnyVape adapter ring and the Kanger air flow controller.

Can I get a mini Nautilus vape without buying a Nauti? I do have two. It would be nice to use the "converted" Davides and ProTanks. I do build coils and rewick with cellu cotton for these tanks, but would like the ease of having a "ready built" around for hectic times. :D

BTW, got the adapters and air flow controller at Discount Vapors.

right now I have 2 aerotanks V1s, and 1 nautilus I use. I actually traded an aerotank mega for one of my aerotanks because I did not like the mega that is how I got my second aerotank. I mostly use my aerotanks on my mech with a 1.2 and 1.5 ohm coils. my nautilus which is 5ml tank works better on my MVP 2.0. I have never owned a protank, but here is what I have heard (just because you change the base out you still have to go with the same coil for that tank you can't change it probably because of the tube to drip tip) so protank 1 aerotank V1, V2, and V3 base still single coil: and protank 2 with aerotank base dual coil.

I fully agree. The Mk1 air control valve is superb, and a PT2 with it is my favourite topper. As you say, the range of adjustment is unrivalled, far better than the Nautilus holes.
