The mod is just the power supply. If you want a good vape, a beast vape, monster clouds, or whatever, you need to find a good atomizer -- clearo, carto, rebuildable dripping thingy -- the acronym escapes me, I think it's rba or rda or is that the recommended daily allowance? I can't keep em straight. The mod just powers the thing that makes the vapor.

+1 on the mod having less influence on the vape experience.

For the atty, I have had fantastic results with the Pyrex RSST. The intake hole needs to be drilled out though. 1/16" produced good results, 5/64" produces fantastic results. It's all a factor of your ability to do a solid built. Genesis atomizer have a learning curve, and you get better every time. My revelation came when I did a #500 mesh hollow wick with an 11 wrap 2.4 ohm microcoil out of 28 ga kanthal. Vapor production rivals even some dripper builds out there.

The original RSST can be had for less than 25 bucks, and the Pyrex RSST is closer to 40. I have both. The Pyrex RSST was worth the upgrade because the quality of the build is far better than the original. Top cap fits nicer, Tank disassembles well, PYREX TANK haha. I run it on a Provari

What is an RSST exactly? Most of these acronyms I've either figured out or read enough that their nature became clear, but I can't puzzle out this one.

You should be able to use some rebuildables on your ego battery since it's a 510 connection but for better performance, vaping time, and customization/accessories you may want to look at moving up to a mech or regulated mod. But you will have to buy separate batteries and a charger for them. If you do go this route then a good charger like a nitecore would be good. Since you want to blow clouds i'd suggest a 30amp battery (18650) alot of people like the sony VTC4's. Your also going to need to get an OHM meter or multi meter if your going to get into building though. I'm not sure of the amp limit on the ego's so i'd probably recommend keeping all of your builds above 1.2ohms for safety.

If you want to make an upgrade not quite so ambitious/expensive, yet still get a very powerful little mod, I highly recommend the Innokin iTaste vv/vw v3... I have 2 of 'em, because I liked the 1st one so much I immediately bought a 2nd as backup. You can vary the voltage or the wattage, to customize the quality of the vape to your own taste. You can get the vv3 battery+charge cable for $30, from eBay/Vapingtown. That's the express kit, because the full starter kit comes with the crappiest clearos ever made; if you just get the battery you can save the money and get a decent one, one of the kanger tanks maybe, to start, before you get into the rebuilding thing.

The Smoktech RSST. Quick google image search will set you on the right track. I don't know what RSST stands for other that (R)idiculously (S)ub(S)stantial (T)ank.

Yeah I came up with that myself. Personally I wouldn't advise rebuildables on an EGO battery because most (not all) lack variable voltage. I'm not fully confident in the protection those batteries offer to prevent damage in the case of a shorted atomizer. If you did use a rebuildable on an EGO, you will need an ohm reader. This can come in the form of a dedicated ohm reader ($20) or a device that has an integrated one like the MVP2 ($40). In which case, you don't need the ego battery anymore.

If it's huge clouds your after, then you probably should look into a different mod (the term used for the part that powers your atomizer). Atty is the term for what screws on to your mod. Little terminology for ya. I can probably say with reasonable confidence that you aren't going to be able to produce monster clouds out of an ego. They're limited to 3.7 volts (4.8 on a twist) and they probably have a low amp limit as well.

For a rebuildable atomizer, you need more power. If you really want to get nuts with clouds, look in to mechanical mods. I don't know a whole lot about them, but I know what they are capable of, and they can pump out far more power than my Provari is capable of. The biggest clouds in the industry usually come from a mechanical mod with a dripper type setup.

An MVP2 would get you on the right track. It won't blow up in your face like a mech could if you don't know what your doing, has a reasonable amount of power and a built in ohm reader. Your choice of dripping atomizer for the topper. I myself clearly prefer genesis atomizers like the RSST. This is my setup

See that white hot coil right there? That's what a genesis is capable of. That's why I get so much vapor cranking out, and as long as my wick is rolled properly (#500 mesh), it feeds the juice fast enough to keep up with the heat applied. If that doesn't happen, you get a dry hit that will put you on a stretcher in the hospital (not literally).

That's a Pyrex RSST on top of my Provari. Maybe a little unwieldy or unattractive to some, but that goes out the window with the experience. Pyrex RSST is a great introduction to genesis atomizers because they're easy to build. Juice flows up that SS wick to the coil, and that air hole on the last picture is of course your intake.

Get it right and there's no leaks, no dry hits and no shorting. Get it wrong and you may have all three happening at the same time. It takes a lot of practice, and is cheap if you get it wrong because you just start over. Three 6"x6" sheets of #500 mesh cost me 9 bucks. 100' of 28 ga kanthal cost me maybe 10 bucks. Pennies to rebuild, same goes for drippers as well because they use cotton. I don't use drippers though, just not my thing

Before you get into rebuildables and wanting to blow huge clouds, research about ohms law and the types of batteries best used for safety. Getting into mechanical mods are totally different from regulated vv/vw devices. The last thing you want is your battery venting. Even if you can easily get 30A sonys now it's still better if you know what you're getting into. Good luck!

First, if you want to blow wicked clouds, keep in mind, there's a danger involved.

The biggest vapor comes not from volts, but Watts. most VV/VW devices have their limits on amps used and wattage used. For people to get the biggest "clouds", they usually drip and build their coils themselves. A complete setup usually involves:

1) Mechanical mod
2) A good battery
3) an Ohm meter
4) Wire
5) wick
6) Dripping Atomizer
7) Juice

skimping quality on numbers 1 and 2 can be dangerous. First, you need to get a mechanical mod. The best ones have low voltage drop. Also, good venting holes are a must when it comes to safety. If something goes wrong, you don't want the gasses to build up in the tube and turn itself into a pipe bomb. Just as bad, is to have the venting holes at the top of the mod (Yes, I have seen this). If a battery vents while you're in the middle of vaping, you'll end up with a burned face.

Seocnd, you need to learn ohms law and get a good battery. All coils are essentially shorting out the battery. The lower the resistance from the negative to the positive, the more power is drawn from the battery. This is where it gets dangerous, since most of the biggest clouds come from very low ohms on good batteries. If someone has the wrong battery, or even thinks he has a good one, but ends up with a fake one, then he is at risk from the battery venting which could lead to an exploding battery, or turn your mod into a hot rocket. get familliar with Ohms law calculator, and know what kind of amps you're pulling from the battery.. this is a MUST.

third, get an ohm checker... again, this is a must. No matter how skilled anyone is, an unseen short can cause a vent. Checking your coils on an ohm meter is a must, and only fools would coil without some way of checking the resistance.

fourth, Wire... you'll have to know what gague you're aiming for. This comes from experience, since the wire reacts differently to different amperages. a Thinner wire gets hot faster, but doesn't come in contact with the juice as much. A thicker wire has less resistance and heats/cools slower, but it has more contact with the juice.

fifth is wick...You may not think there's much to say about this, but there is. Most wicks used by drippers, is cotton. Cottonis cheap, but it will burn if it gets dry. I use cotton on all my RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer). However I use Silica on my RBA (ReBuildable Atomizer) since most of my newer RBAs have tanks and bury the coils out of view. Cotton holds as much, if not more juice than Silica... however, it does not wick the juice tot he coils the same as Silica. What atomizer may determine what kind of wick you use. To throw other types of wicks in the air, there's Hemp, Stainless Steel mesh, cotton yarn, Steel wire, Bamboo, etc... pretty much anything that can safely hold juice could be an option.

Sixth, is the actual atomizer. I mentioned dripping, since that's the only way to get the largest ammount of vapor. Most of the heavy vapors use drippers because they burn through juice faster than a wick can wick it. "normal vapers" need soemthing that can wick so they can use their tanks. But a dripper and a "cloud chaser" will drip, since they are the limiting factor as to how much juice they have on their wicks.

seventh, and last, is the actual juice. Different juices behave differently to heat. most liquids are made from a combination of VG and PG (or one or the other). PG tends to carry flavor better and have more of a throat hit. VG produces huge clouds but produces less throat hit and less flavor. Most videos that "showboat" their mech mod are showing a VG based cloud. What they can't show you on the video, is taste.

How much for a complete setup? Well, it's not cheap to do it safely, and skimping on quality can be a bad thing.... Mech mods can run you about $25. A dripping atomizer can run you $15, GOOD batteries from a reputable place can run approx $8-9 each, and a good charger is needed for those batteries which will run you at least $20.The wire is pretty cheap, and can get it online, but I'll post $10 for a good supply of wire. Cotton wicks, I prefer organic, but theat will run you about $5.

And I'd just like to let you know, you can produce good vapor from a starter kit, or a low end mod. If it's flavor you're out for, then you just may need to change Atomizers. IF it's the visuals of the vapor you're after, I highly and strongly suggest you do a lot of research.

In principle yes, but they work completely different (see last post haha)

Yes... I have an iTaste vv3... the reason I was asking is that I'm just starting to get into rebuilding the tiny kanger coils for my xT3S tanks, but they're so damn tiny, you nearly go blind doing it. I was thinking that if the atomizer itself is larger, it would be a lot easier, and I do like tanks as opposed to dripping; dripping is useful for tasting and testing, but otherwise I find it a huge PITA. I should see if the local B&M that's all MODZZZZZ crazy maybe has an RSST I could look at.

I have all the stuff I need for rebuilding, with the exception of a small torch; my first effort just to see if I could actually wrap a coil, it just won't stay tight, so I guess that torching is really necessary. Mainly I'm just trying to learn, but I dislike dripping, and these kangers are so tiny, it's nearly impossible to see properly, especially since I'm just starting to try and learn this -- these eyes ain't as young as they used to be.

Thx

you can get a pretty decent and cheap atomizer on fasttech.com. Preferred choice for a good wick would be some organic cotton, which you can buy from any drug store, CVS etc.. Do some research before you try and do a build. Learn Ohm's Law and the types of batteries, as mentioned above. But most importantly do your research before you start to build.

Check out Vapehappy on youtube - he is a cloud chasing machine

Fastech - Panzer clone $32

Dual coil RDA - drill two air holes 3/32 inch

He sells Nimbus dripper for I think $20 included pre-drilling of air holes either 3/32 or 1/8 inch.

He does a simple dual coil using one piece of wire - 2:4 (spaced out) wraps - see video it'll make more sense.

100%VG - big breath lung hit - monster clouds
