I use various different bits of kit. I have a a few mods. variables, and mechs... but I'm going to shock you: at this very moment, I'm vaping on a Joyetech eVic Easy Head with a Sony VTC5 cell in, and a copper hot spring on the battery cap, with the head set to unregulated mode. (Vape at high watts, and have short protection, and on-board charging, if ever necessary in a pinch, since it uses a mini-USB jack) I'm able to make some very nice BIG clouds using a KFL+ in dripper mode, with a .4 ohm coil in. I have not tried a lower rating than .4 YET. It seems like it might be overkill, for my purposes. (not a chaser personally. Just want my gear to get up to temp quickly, and produce well for normal vaping) I do have Siam Mods Stainless clothes on my Easy Head, so in this guise, she's not so cheap... but in the stock clothes, very cheap..

But... I did just break down, and order a Protovapor XPV (30D 18650 model, with Sony VTC5 cell) I have the feeling it's going to be my game changer :D

The atty creates the clouds. Mods are involved only because they will fire the low-ohm builds that provide the most clouds. You don't have to build super subohm coils to get clouds. I have a 1.2 ohm on my Patriot Tobeco clone, and a .7 ohm on my Ehpro Helios. The clouds I get with these are annoying when I'm trying to read as they block the view :( The Patriot and the Helios clones are both rdas (rebuildable drippers). They cost under $20 online.

You can buy solid brass or stainless steel mod clones that will outlast the century at FT for under $20. I now have two--the brass m16 and the Rai Launcher clones, and recommend both. You'll also need a good charger and good batteries for mods; don't go for clones for those, and don't buy from FT.

You can put any atty you want on these mods, btw. you don't have to be limited to rbas and rdas.

Good rda or rba clones cost anywhere from $10-$40.

You'll need 28, 30, and/or 32 gauge kanthal wire (under $10 at your local b&m or ebay) and a digital multimeter to measure your batteries and coils. Multimeters go for $20 or so at any hardware store or Walmart.

I use organic cotton balls for wicking. Others use sterile cotton balls, Peaches&Cream cotton yarn available at Walmart or Joann's, 1, 2, or 3mm silica or ecowool. These are also dirt cheap.

See Baditude's blog on batteries here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...eeper-understanding-mod-batteries-part-i.html.

There are excellent charts and info here Battery mAh & C Rating = amp Calculator

PS: Lots of info on building coils, mods, batteries, rdas, rbas here and on youtube.

Right now i just have the standard eGo style batteries. would i need a whole new battery setup to go up to a nice atomizer. I am definitely looking for huge clouds and lots of flavor.

If I can use my current atty, 510 thread, can you suggest a wicked atomizer to go with it?

If you need more power than a standard eGo can provide, I have a mod suggestion for you: A Smoktech ACE. It's on sale here for $35.95.

Easy: the K100/K101 with an IGO W.

In terms of vaping mad clouds, the build on the IGO W is what really matters. Are you gonna use 24 AWG Kanthal or twisted 28? Will it be single coil, dual coil, diamond coil, quad coil, etc.?

I say the K100 + IGO W because it's relatively inexpensive. Maybe expect to spend ~$80 if you're going to a local vape shop, but online...? You could definitely get your vapemail cheaper.

But that's what I started out with and the K100 is a super durable mod for the price. Easy to maintain.

If you want a regulated mod you could try the Sigelei 20 watt.
They are around 120.00
It can sub ohm to .6 ohms,they say .5 ohms,but it's more borderline .5 and .6 than really .5..

If i could post links i would link you to Rip trippers review of it..
he just did it the other day and gave it a pretty good review.

I've had mine for about a month and love it..

If you want to make an upgrade not quite so ambitious/expensive, yet still get a very powerful little mod, I highly recommend the Innokin iTaste vv/vw v3... I have 2 of 'em, because I liked the 1st one so much I immediately bought a 2nd as backup. You can vary the voltage or the wattage, to customize the quality of the vape to your own taste. You can get the vv3 battery+charge cable for $30, from eBay/Vapingtown. That's the express kit, because the full starter kit comes with the crappiest clearos ever made; if you just get the battery you can save the money and get a decent one, one of the kanger tanks maybe, to start, before you get into the rebuilding thing.

Andria

I just picked up my first iTaste v3. Have been using Vision Spinner 1300 for about a month. I *swear* the iTaste is producing thicker clouds with EVOD tank with 2.5 ohm coil. (Waiting for Spinner to recharge before I can make side-by-side test) I also feel that the draw is much smoother - I don't feel like I'm sucking ice cream through a straw.

Andria, your opinion of the clearos that come with scares me a little. I had a real bad experience with GS-H2s (I know, get what ya pay for), but I was hoping to have a number of tanks in rotation so I can quickly change flavors (without having to drop $$$$$ on Protanks or the like.) Been VERY happy with my EVODs and have a bunch of 2.2 and 2.5 coils to play with.

Being somewhat of a nerd, I'll probably go ahead and sacrifice some juice to try the clearos.

nicknamenick, I'm not enveloped in a face-blocking cloud, but I'm producing enough to keep myself amused (and off the analogs). Hope you find something to suit your taste :toast:

Sounds like the OP may be leaning towards a genesis because of personal preference.

Me, I would advise starting your rebuildables career on a regulated mod for now. I return back to my MVP2 suggestion. It'll shut itself down if you have a short. The ohm reader is integrated so you wouldn't need to buy an ohm checker separately. If you go for an RSST or similar and enjoy it with the MVP2, if that's what you go with, then maybe consider a mechanical. I've been rocking the Provari for 6 months now and haven't had the desire for a mech. Not because I feel they're inferior, I just like having the protection the Provari offers, both for me and for itself. A Provari will never (99.99999%) blow up in your face. Incorrectly done, a mechanical can. Do your research, make an educated decision and rock it all day long man. I've been looking into the Zenesis sidewinder mechanical, with it's crazy price tag, but they're so sweet looking. I'm also holding out for the new ZNA mods that are slowly being produced. Gorgeous DNA30 device.

The genesis atty's ARE capable of massive vapor, rivaling some drippers, like I said before.

In my opinion, the flavor is rather harsh from citrus or berry flavored juiced, but flavors like vanilla and caramel, somewhat softer flavors, you can ramp up your volts and take a super smooth it and exhale enough to fog up a room. It's really incredible, and so is the taste. My MBV blueberry is a little tough to vape on it, but I have some banana on the way, which shouldn't be as harsh. Caramel candy and French vanilla were a dream. As was hawk sauce.

Using 100% VG, I dilute it with distilled water, allowing it to wick fast enough to keep up with the high volts I'm running on a moderate ohm level. It keeps up

What is an RSST exactly? Most of these acronyms I've either figured out or read enough that their nature became clear, but I can't puzzle out this one.

Andria

RSST is basically the name of the tank I call it the Really Slick Simple Thingy due to its design ;) its easy to set up and fill and easy to maintain

i got a nemesis clone ($23), kraken clone($20), and a patriot clone ($16) on ebay. The kraken (genisis style rba) blows decent clouds but the patriot with a .6 dual micro coil build will fog up the room lol. also got few sont vct5 batts to go with the nemesis and a nitecore i2 charger. the whole package cost less than $100 and i have the ability to drip or use a tank style rba.

Is it worth it to go from an EVOD to the iTaste? or would it be smarter to get a bigger battery instead? the box shape seems weird.
