Assuming I close the control ring firmly, is it okay to store the GG on it's side or more importantly in my pocket?

Yeah, I dont think you will have any problem. Just always keep a eye out, I always make sure nothing is leaking, etc etc. Just a habit of mine....but ya never know....

If you have no leak before closing the CR then no problem, it will keep the liquid inside. If you have some liquid over the 8 holes or the brass connector oring then you need to also wipe it.

Hi jsa my friend. As Jumi said, if you hadnt leakage before closing the o-ring then its ok. But sometimes if a drop of liquid goes inside CR then the CR will lock the liquid but this drop will go on your pocket. So wipe it first before putting in pocket.
