I’m really confused! Iwant to step up my vaping experience a bit more, I started about 3 months agowith an ego 1000mah and clearomizers, then moved up to an ego-T mod with ViviNova tank. Now I’m buying a provari miniand I want to use a Phiniac tank system with cartomizers. I’m going to back up a bit because I have aLOT of questions. Before I make any purchasesI hope to get some of those answered here first.
1. Theclearomizers I still have come with replacement coils/wicks and I replace themevery 10 days or so. Should I also bereplacing the metal part in the tank that the replacement coils/wick screwsinto?
2. On the Vivi Nova tank, I also replace the wicksystem inside. That is all Ireplace. The bottom of the Vivi Novaunscrews so you can then unscrew the current wick “system” from the metaltube. My question is, should I bereplacing the metal tube thing also?
3. Reading as much as I can about tank systems withcartomizers, I know you have to buy the correct “height” carto for the sizetank you purchase. I feel comfortablethere, but some videos I’ve watched to try and learn more show people punchingholes in them. Why do some come with theholes already in them and some you have to do it yourself?
4. This is a BIG question … why and HOW dosome people use cartomizers without a tank? Should you prime a carto or “fill” it before use in a tank?
I’ve never used cartomizers before so any and all opinionsare welcome and appreciated. It’sprobably a little soon for me to be upgrading but the time is right and the $is there so I’m going for it!

I'm predominantly a tank + punched carto user, so I'll answer 3 and 4 and leave the other two for someone else.

I use Phiniac tanks exclusively at this point, and if I buy the 3-hole prepunched non-branded cartos that many places sell (I get mine from Hoosier Ecigs), they fit my Phiniac XL tank perfectly. I can use the smaller Phiniac tanks with them, too -- the carto will just protrude out the top. DEFINITELY get a fill tip from Phiniac if you opt to use their tanks, because oh man, those are like gold - they protect the O-rings on the tank from wear and tear and make it a much easier prospect to fill.

If you're using other cartos that are brand-specific, check Phiniac's website to see which ones will fit best with which tank -- they have a list.

The extra holes are usually only necessary if you're using 'thick' juice, so if you're vaping all-VG, you may find you want to expand the hole or add more holes so that the carto refills easier.

Non-punched cartos (cartos that don't have holes in the side) can be used without a tank. My husband likes to use those with an ego battery on plane trips because they're small, compact, and don't cause any issues. Those, you need to prefill and let sit for a while before use, although you can top off with more liquid on the go if you want.

I always prime (and prefill) my new punched cartos prior to filling the tank, as that way, they're prepped and ready to go. Just don't prefill enough that you have juice oozing out of the punch-holes, and you're good!

Hope that helps. :)

I've been vapping for over three years & I still have questions! LOL!

Do a youtube search for 'pbusardo'. Very informative videos on everything vapping related. I am sure you will find many of your answers there.

I pretty much stick with ViVi novas. pbusardo has a very very good complete review of them. The ViVi Novas are so simple to use, clean & fill... they are just hard to beat.

No need to replace any of the Vivi Nova metal parts during normal maintenance. They go longer than 10 days, actually, but when your vapor production slows down or if you can't hear the tank atomizing, then take it apart for a good wash/dry. Here's a good video on maintaining the Vivi Nova.

The answer to # 1 is no. You only have to replace the head which is the part you have been changing it sounds like. I think the answer to # 2 is also no. If you were to take out the old coil and wick from what your calling the tube you could just wrap a new coil around a wick and replace just the wick and coil in the tube reusing the tube over and over and over. The part of the head that goes bad (burnt) is only the wick and coul and not the tube the wick and coil sits in. I hope this makes sense to you. If not just let me know and I can try again.

You're very welcome. Just be forewarned, Phiniac tanks are like crack. I persently have 6 sitting in front of me with a 7th on the way, and my husband has 2 or 3. (I even have one of their Phineer wood-veneered tanks. Those are beautiful, but are finicky because of the veneering as it makes the top and bottom discs sometimes looser, so I definitely recommend that you start with one of the all-glass ones instead of the veneered ones!)

1and 2. no, you don't have to replace nothing else as the coil, but what you can do first is clean the coil with warm water and dry the wicks with a tissue and after that make a dry burn.
3.people make sometimes holes in the carto because it sucks more liquid into the carto and then do you have more steamy clouds but thats something for the more experienced vapers.
4. you have 2 type's of cartomisers 1 with a tank and 1 without a tank, the one without a tank that are dripping cartomisers and for the one is that because of the taste from the flavour and for the other is that because its a easy way of tasting different flavours, you dont have to fill up a whole tank.

Awesome, thanks to all! I contacted Phiniac about a custom tank. I can see where they can be addicting! This could get expensive! :) Also, I ordered a bunch of samples soaybe I will get a couple/three of those cartomizers to try them out. Good advice so I don't have to fill an entire tank to taste the different samples. Looking forward to getting my vapemail! I ordered "a little bit of everything" from Alice in Vapeland, 8 different flavors from Hearhers Heavenly Vapes, and 30 ml of Honeysuckle from Copper Creek. Can't wait to try them all!
