My new Ego C kit, which I have nothing else to compare too, is great when it works right, except:

1) Last night it stopped creating vapor, but was more of a nasty dry burn. I swapped atty's with no success, and then finally got a 3rd one to work. So I did a standard web search and dove head first into the world of atomizers, wicks, cleaning procedures and mods. I watched two interesting videos about replacing the wicks using totally different techniques. One involved a 3/8 silica rope and aluminum foil and the other rolling a thin piece of stainless steel...

... at any rate, the atomizers on these things seem to be inconsistent and finicky at best. Also, even though it's hard for a new person like me to tell what is compatible with what in terms of both screw sizes and ohms for the Ego-C, the bottom line is I think I'm looking for an atty/carto solution that is perhaps more durable and reliable for the Ego C battery. Maybe something like the Boge 2.0 carto is a better solution than the Joye atomizers? Or is it really worth getting the materials and rebuilding one's own attys? There seems to be a lot of different opinions and ideas, and it's all pretty confusing.

2) Another thought: Even though the Ego attys are advertized as somehow more efficient because you don't need to replace the whole carto housing component, they don't seem to be any less expensive, and are often more costly than other carto/atty setups out there.

I'll keep looking into this, but thoughts are appreciated. I'm trying to get to 5 posts anyway. Happy vaping!

I would not recommend getting a rebuildable unless you have a big mod where you can adjust voltage and wattage. What I found works best with my Ego-C is an atomizer with less than 2.0 ohms. The vivi nova with a 1.8 ohm head and the kanger T2 are a big improvement over other attys.

You can buy the heads ... you don't have to rebuild them (Vision Clearo is the same as the Nova just a different form factor) ... but it's an option you can have for the future. Also, just because they label the resistance doesn't mean that's actually what it is ... in fact, it usually isn't.

Hi Ansah,

I never used the Ego-C but I had my terrible and inconsistent experiences with the Ego-T and I feel your pain. A 510 Boge Cartomizer with the Ego "tube"/drip shield is awesome and will give you a disposable but high quality Carto experience. Also there are the Kanger T2's that I believe are a bit cheaper and have great reviews so far. If you want to go farther down the "Rabbit Hole" with rebuilding your own, you may be interested in something like the Phoenix rebuildable. It is around $10 and gives a neat platform and is designed for building your own coils.

Ansah, as a vaper for over 2 years, i can say that rebuilding those heads are not worth the time it takes to do so.

If replacing the head component doesnt work, then there is usually something else that needs to be looked over.

rebuildables are fun, but you should still have something that is guaranteed to work. Dont rely on a rebuildable as they are only as good as your skill to build them. and that takes a bit of time and effort to get perfect.

The Vision stardusts are a reliable alternative, and @ $4 a piece, once they dont taste good you can toss and replace them without worry.
And they compliment an ego well, unlike some of the other tanks that look like an eye sore.

the boge cartos are good, but some people feel that there is a weird taste with cartos. i never noticed it.

just make sure that you keep the filler material wet, if you let it dry out to the point where you get the burnt taste, its really hard to get that taste out of the carto.

Just top it off when the flavour isnt as full, and you will enjoy it. I would get 4-5 days on a single carto before i would descide to throw it out.
