Posted in UK News. Can you believe it.................these idiots never give up:rolleyes:

Someone is tracking how much you ‘vape’ on Twitter

Interesting story link on the page also about the genome of the oldest person in the world....who was a smoker.
They want to base policy on the results, and the mathematician is warning of insufficient bot removal. Could make for some interesting regulations.

Isn't the demographic of those that vape to avoid smoking heaving skewed towards older folks?

Anyway, sounds like old farts like me who REFUSE to use Twitter won't be represented.
I imagine their skewed results will help them find what they're looking for.

I know several 'very old farts' who vape and do not even have a computer so they likely have no clue what 'Twitter' is. But yes, many of us slightly younger 'old farts' do avoid Twitter, Facebook and the rest.

Does anybody find it weird that a story regarding longevity and smoking would be placed smack bang in the middle of a story re vaping??:?:
Not me. This is the title, but I haven't read it: "Secrets of longevity may lie in long-lived smokers, a ‘biologically distinct’ group with extraordinary gene variants"

My Mum asked me what Twitter was a few years back. After attempting to describe it, her only answer was "why would anyone want to do that..?"

Now, I've read it. I doubt I have those super genes, but I believe my longevity genes are very good. I might be missing a few wise decision genes, though.

Secrets of longevity may lie in long-lived smokers, a ‘biologically distinct’ group with extraordinary gene variants

We've seen, in either the earlier Willard Scott's "100 year old" segments or just other segments on centurions where the person is smoking, say they still smoke or are lighting a cigarette from one of the candles of the birthday cake :- )

I wonder who the oldest person to switch from smoking to vaping is, and how old they were. Somehow, I doubt it would be easy to convert a 100-year-old.

Good question. At what age is the risk/reward not a factor :) (discounting the smell factors)
And discounting the being a target of a hate campaign factor.

(Maybe there's a 104-year-old woman out there, DIY vaping, planning to vacation in the tropics with the money saved from not smoking.)

I helped my 78 year father in law old switch. Pretty easy compared to our failed attempt to introduce them to computers and that was over a decade ago. Now 79 and smoke free for a year some time in March! Should have marked the day...

Way to help! Good deed! Nice work!
He's the oldest I've heard of, so far.

The politicians and their chronies would like to squash the vaping thing but it's hard to predict the blowback because noody knows how many vapers there are or how crazy things would get if suddenly products aren't available. So they look for clues everywhere including google searches and twitter. Recently I discovered that the local tobacco shops in my area are probably supporting more vapers than the vape shops. I think vaping is still growing rapidly and that's in spite of all the scare stories in the news. I bet the video of the guy fighting the fire from a shorted battery in his pocket will increase sales. That's a lot of free publicity for vaping.
