I got the aga t2 a week ago or so. It worked great for a couple days. Since then every day after work im having to mess with it. Constantly gets hotspots. Ill fix them. Itll work for the day then boom more hotspots. Its driving me insane im so tired of messin with it. My coils are built perfectly so I dont know why it keeps happening. Even had my local vapeshop guy built a perfect coil. Again worked for a day or so. Then back to the same shenanigans. Im done with it. I love mech mods and building my own stuff. Is there another rba thats a different style thst doesnt have these problems? Help!!

with the constant list of complaints I still dont understand how the aga's have become popular. I would say try an rsst, many say they work well for a cheap genesis, if you want to spend some money get a kayfun for a nice dripper style vape and very little fuss. personally i use a cobra and a DIDgemini and almost zero fuss.
or just try some drippers.

one of the issues I hear a lot about is that the centerpost on the aga can move very easily as well as pop up and down when screwed on the mod. any movement here will be a never ending string of problems for the coil. you can maybe try to figure out a way to lock it in better and see if this helps.

Honestly, the AGA's are popular because of the price point and availability. Every shop has them, and they're cheap (I got mine for $25 from a B + M).

My buddy has the RSST, and I have the AGA-T2. We go back and forth, showing off our builds and discussing techniques and problems, and IMO they're almost the same in the issues you'll experience. Hot legs are common on all gennies, as far as I know, when using SS mesh or cable as a wick. These days, I build mine with micros and cotton, so I literally never have to worry about hot legs.

Just picked up a Kayfun 3.1 at ECC this weekend, and it is fantastic. Very little fuss? I don't know about that, although I would say less fuss than a genny. I still use my AGA alongside the Kayfun. If you've got $175 lyin around, then go for the Kayfun, if not then keep working the AGA. I know they can be frustrating at times, but honestly I'm glad I fought through as much BS as I did with mine because I feel like I have a much more complete understanding of the subtle nuance of rebuildables because of it. My $.02.

Coincidentally, that's about the price of a washer that will make the Agas so much easier to set up ;)
lol

kayfun light is only about 100 had to be the easiest atty i ever set up (just my opinion) only cheap geni i ever tried is a DID clone long before the aga's even existed I liked the vape so much i just said ya im sticking with it so might as well get a nice one. my cobra turns 1 year old next month ...................

send it to me, ill take that hassle! lol. the rsst is good, and the griffin's are good for a cheap rba. you can get them for anywhere from 5 to 20 bucks. when I get home in the morning I can post links for you :)

lol i might as well! I put that thing in the drawer. I'll check back with it later on. I just ordered the kayfun lite and some standard ejuice. So excited to get it i paid the extra money to get it overnight. Maybe im silly, but whatev i got extra money at the moment.

Wachoo talkin about wattwick?

The only gennys I've used is RSSTs. Just started playing with an AGA-T2. Working fine with a micro and cotton. Does this washer have something to do with the center post?

Find Badattitude around here and ask him for some links. He is always happy to help. I was having the same problem with hot spots and hot legs. I can't remember what he linked me to but I ended up using 30 gage wire rather then 32. I also started using the s at the start and end of the coil. I had bought the spring and washers but found I didn't need them once I tried these techniques. Also having the positive lead perfectly horizontal and not tipped up or down going from the wick to the positive post got rid of the hot spots for good. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask.

Yep!

A small washer underneath the top nut on center post will reduce the span considerably.

If you had to get another genesis, I'd vote RSST as well. I don't think you should give up on the AGA-T2 just yet though. I have had a lot of issues with it too, but I still love mine. For the hot leg issue, try a brass/stainless steel washer. If you are getting bad contact on the positive post, look into getting a spring. I found these two items on homedepot.com and debating if they will be effective/safe:

http://www.homedepot.com/p/6S-Brass-Flat-Washers-12-Pack-19981/202704558#.UkBjg39-hEZ
http://www.homedepot.com/p/CROWN-BO...mpression-Spring-78038/203577611#.UkBhTn9-hEY

From what I can tell these should be pretty good and for $2 for both, you can't beat it. The spring might be a little too long but seems safe enough. It doesn't say galvanize, zinc-plated, etc. I've seen people say you can just use a spring from a clicky pen, but I wouldn't go there. You never know exactly what those are made of. Anybody feel free to weigh in on these items, I'm still a little apprehensive about them.

One of the loveliest replies I ever read on ECF was: "Let's try working with what you have"

The Agas can be a challenge, but it's is very much possible to get them working very well. All it takes is practice, reading guides, watching guides, practice and understanding.

Things that are not often mentioned that you may encounter without knowing it may be; You inadvertently adjust your center post by tightening the Aga on a mod. It is possible to rotate the center post from the bottom of the 510 connector. Just something to be aware of. Also, it's possible to adjust everything if you have the habit of "screwing on" the cap or adjusting your air hole by rotating the cap. If you accidentally rotate the whole deck, you loosen or tighten the center pin assembly as well. I have two Agas. One of them is very prone to the rotating deck thingy due to a very tight cap.

There really isn't a need for a washer, but it does indeed make the span between wick and post shorter, making things easier. In the end, it's all about failing in every way possible and figuring out what caused it. A process of elimination... and a fair bit of patience.

To eliminate it being a wicking issue, try firing it without the cap on. Twice as long firing time as you would normally draw. Keep an eye on the wick. You'll see how quickly it replenishes, or needs down time to replenish at all. Not too close eye on it tho, or you'll get shot. Been there... ;)

Is this spring to make it an RSST type center post? Gotta a post or link with more details? Thanks!
