AGA T2 help needed asap

No matter what I do I can't get rid of the hot top leg. I know there are some of you who can eliminate the problem without pushing the wick toward the pos post or the use of washers. How do you accomplish this? I have been trying for over an hour now. All the coils light up nicely. Because of this issue I'm getting ungodly burnt hits. Please help.

well from the pics i would say:
it isnt lighting up even it looks like 1 1/2 coils glowing.
the wraps look kinda loose.
the wraps look unevenly spaced.
depending on the wire there isnt enough wraps.

try these: using the drillbit method, making sure the coils are evenly spaced (all the way around the wick), and the top coil is a little more horizontal coming off the screw.

uneven tension in the coil, especially the top wind is the main culprit of this annoying problem. and is almost always caused when the top nut is tightened pulling on the coil/wick

But.. what thrasher said too much tension is the top coil to the post. Another thing to do after you get your coil a little tighter around the wick is to slightly push the coil into the wick before it leaves towards the post. So it would be more wrapped and connected to the wick.

I've added another coil made sure nothing was overly tight, spent a long time getting the coils spaced evenly. The positive leg still lights up. I'm at a loss. At least now I'm not getting the burnt hits.

Add a washer to the post. It will shorten the length of the leg. Make it so the washer is a mm or 2 from the mesh and the leg is touching it.

I've never had good luck with the AGAT2. The RSST is much easier to set up.

Take the top most nut off the post, leave the leg, drop a washer right on top of the post. Then put the top nut on.

One more suggestion, when you connect to the positive post, go all the way around and wrap the tag end around the top leg, back towards the coil. This gives the leg more resistance and eases the transition from in the air to one the coil, which I think is the culprit, especially with 32 wire. ( I don't know what gauge you have there) I didn't generally have the problem as much with lower resistance wire.

I'm using 34ga, .16mm. I'd love to have an RSST but funds right now don't allow it. It's okay the way it is right now but I'm a perfectionist. If I can't do whatever I'm doing perfectly, I get mad. It's a personal shortcoming, I know, but that's just the way I am.
