So I posted something in another topic about someones extreme negative reaction to my PV. One of the comments was that the younger generation of smokers does not take well to vaping. This girl is in her mid 30's so the argument didn't hold up in that case. What have you all seen with regards to younger vs. older peoples reactions to vaping? Judging by the age bracket of this forum I would say the more seasoned smokers are into PV's more. I am 28 going on 29 next month so I am no little baby nor an old timer and PV's got my attention the second I saw them in action. And I was a smoker since I was 18 so a good 10yrs.

I am older and I think e-cigarettes are a god-send. I'm on day 44 analog free the longest I've ever been cigarette=free in my life. And I've smoked 40+ years. The transition was seamless and stress-free (except for the learning curve and waiting for the next purchase to arrive lol). Every person my age thinks they are the cat's meow and wants one for their father/mother/patient/friend/son/daughter. Remember that song, "I'd like to give the world a coke..." well, I like to give the entire older smoking world an e-cigarette ! :)

Hey Bloops,
You know I had to follow over to here

I am 35 and started smoking at 16 it is hard to say about the age
I mean the early 20somethings might take to it because it's a practical gadget over smoking and most likely want to do it so they can do it practically anywhere and some may do both depending on the occasion

us late 20 somethings to 30 somethings have two reasons one like the previous to freedom and maybe having the knowledge of the dangers of smoking decided for a change and found vaping to be an EXCELLENT alternative

As for the older generation 50's and about two reasons they WOULD take to vaping the feel the NEED to quit and all other methods were exhausted or there years of experience just makes it a logical choice

Now there might be more resistance to accept vaping for the real older crowd because they are set in their ways if you know what I mean and they would need a personal life changing experience to cross over

These comments or for the obligation to group and categorize this is no exact science because Different strokes for different folks as some may still say :D

Just curious with all of your experiences with people in your peer group compared to those outside of it. Most of my experience has been with people who are intrigued by it. A few have made purchases. But many younger people are quick to laugh it off but they aren't ignorant and reject it because it isn't a social norm.

I am 21 so I guess I'm part of the younger people, as are people my age. Most of my friends think its hella cool, but are skeptical of using it. One friend is quitting, and I asked him if I got him a PV (His birthday was close) if he would use it. He said no, he just wants to quit the habit. Yet its past the date he told me he's quitting and still smoking...

Another friend tells me he really is getting one every time I see him.

My roomate is the one who actually found the Blu's, (I had overlooked them many times..."Pfft Electronic cigarette, what a joke"...) and wanted them, but had no money so I decided to try it so she could try it. She still hasn't gotten one about 2 months later (Blu ship times, I'm already on the 510)

Point is they "want" to get one, but don't want to get one. I just want someone else I know to vape so I'm not alone.

I got my mom vaping. 42 year smoker, "likes PV's better". Still not completely smoke free, but trying monday.

Most older people I know who don't smoke ask me when I'm gonna quit. The ones who do smoke think its good for me but don't want to try it.

I have the same story and amen to the last statement in particular. I would like to see every single smoker in the world turn to vaping, but there are a lot of hardened smokers who will never quit until they develope cancer or emphasema

Same here, 28. So far, no one has been negative once they have actually seen it. One friend said she tried it, and it just didn't work for her, but thats it (I think she used SE or something).

Noone has been against it though

Age can be a factor, but also years of use. If you've been smoking for a year, you probably think you won't have problems for decades to come. If you've been smoking for years, you just want to find something that will help you. When you're new to smoking you can kid yourself by saying you can quit anytime you want. When you pick up a cigarette ever hour and take 10-15 hits, 20 times a day, year after year, you begin to give up hope of ever being free.

I didn't start smoking until I was 21. And I've only tried to quit once. But, Mother Tobacco, just loves us so much! I was successful for about two weeks, but sometimes you just need something to take the edge off. And we live in very edgy times indeed.

I've converted younger and older smokers to e-cigs fairly easily. But even the youngest had more than a few years under her belt. There has to be a willingness to change. A need to fill. If the desire isn't there, it's just not going to work for you.

It's the hopeless smokers who have tired everything in the book to quit that inspire me. Their shock at their own success speaks volumes. But that's life. As soon as you give up hope, something just seems to appear out of the blu. Sorry, bad pun there.

I myself am 42, smoked 1-2 packs a day for 25 years. Haven't touched one since I started vaping. My father was intrigued so I got him a 510 kit. He is 74 and smoked 2 packs a day for the last 55 years. Hasn't touched an analog since he started vaping.

I really think it is all a matter of educating those that don't know or are skeptical. Age is probably not as big of an issue as you might think.

I'm 23 and I started smoking when I was 16. I honestly have never had a bad reaction to my 901. All of my friends and co-workers (age range 18-50+) think it is the coolest thing since sliced bread. A lot of them have been interested enough to have me write down good websites for them to research (of course I give them this one). Even my family thinks it is a very good idea. The reason I wanted to give it a go is because I had several failed attempts to quit smoking since I was about 18 or so. Personally, I can't stand the smell or taste of analogs. I would scrub my hands after I smoked and brush my teeth. The worst was when I could smell it in my hair, or if I went somewhere where there was no smoking and I could smell it on my skin and clothes...yuk!

You are absolutely right. I've smoked for over 30 years and was motivated to quit. The electronic cigarette was a Godsend. My friends, husband and Mother were scared off by the FDA reports, but I know what everyone is getting for Christmas.

I fall into the "had to quit" section. I am diabetic and have just started feeling the effects of smoking for 37 years! At 58, I had a choice, be dead, in a wheelchair in 10 years or quit!

I chose E-cigs. 5 months later I feel the effects of NOT smoking. It's just a for sure, by God, Miracle!

I do get a mixed bag of reactions, but it doesn't bother me, The one good thing about age is that what other people think doesn't matter anymore!

The naysayers get the "lecture" with a demo and a fresh cart if they have the nerve to try it.

The interested ones get this website and supplier's cards. My son got a kit and a tutorial from me, as well as DIY stuff. My best friend is getting the same next week. (Hurry up Eastmall!)

I am taking my stuff to a charity dance in Nov., I hope to make some converts!:)

Changing the world, one person at a time!
