I just got an order from Ahlusion, Peachy Criminal, Smooth Criminal, Tiramisu, Watermelon Jubelance, and Gold Rising. They all smelled pretty good except the gold rising. That just smells bad, it smells like a mixture of acetone, gasoline, and cat pee. I opened the bottle and let it sit for 20 hours or so, but it still has that smell although it isn't as strong. I'm going to give it a good shake and air it out some more. I sure hope that steeping will help this. Maybe I got a bad batch?

Gold Rising does indeed have an odd smell. It's not a bad smell to me, but I can totally see how it would be for others. Gold Rising is just an odd juice period, would be a tough one to recommend. I happen to like it, despite the fact it has a note to it that reminds me of, ummmmm, urine lol.

FloPo, I see you mentioned fermented honey. Very interesting, I wasn't aware of such a thing but maybe that's the flavor it's going for that can has an odd tang. It's like my gramma always says, one person's cat pee is another persons fermented honey :D

That certain odd note in Gold Rising is similar to some of the old school Chinese RY4s and other Chinese tobacco juices. Some of those have a different tangy/sour note that American juices normally don't have. My guess is that was the goal of this juice, as it's described as going for the feel of the original RY4, which is a Chinese synthetic tobacco. For me GR plays like a Chinese arti-bacco with some NET tendencies, or vice versa.

Agreed....their Mango Lassi is great. Cafe au Lait is my new ADV. I have tried many coffee juices and this is my favorite by far. Coffee flavor is spot on and its slightly creamy. Good stuff.

I tried Tiramisu in my Arrow at 14 days. It smells really nice now but, sadly, the flavor is meh. Almost nonexistent still. I got this in 70/30 VG/PG and I have a feeling it should have been 50/50 or even higher PG. Don't think I'll re-order, however.

Meanwhile, Cafe au lait has a slight peppery aroma after 6 days of steeping. It's not unpleasant smelling, but odd. I wonder how it will turn out.

Smooth Criminal smells nice after 6 days, but I'm going to hold off for a couple more weeks before vaping.

So far, for me, two winners: Lime Creme and Mango Lassi.

I like GR, too. Better fresh, imo. And fermented honey is a very good thing. Ever had mead? OMG, Wlad needs to make a Mead liquid!

With respect to fairness, I want to ad that I tried all of my six juices again today in a dripper and there are two that I will probably keep as they are starting to show promise, as far as my own tastes go anyway.. I can't say I like Smooth Criminal yet but there is something there that tells me to wait and it will develop into something I can like for more than a few minutes. I also hit Devil Dog again and I have to say that, while it is way to strong to vape on a regular basis, it has a pleasing medley of flavors I haven't experienced in any other juice. I can truly taste bold rich leathery tobacco in a very authentic way. It is what it says it is, with no excuses. Still smells like hell but it's a keeper for that special occasion when I want to get punched in the lungs. :)

I had great hopes for Gold Rising as well, and I must concur, it's pretty nasty. I've been steeping mine for 14 days now and there is no detectable difference in smell or taste. I would liken it to vaping furniture polish, and it vapes better than it smells. It appears that even the most hardcore fans here don't care for it. I'll try it again in a week but if it doesn't improve, it's going down the drain. This is just one of six juices I ordered from Ahlusion and so far I can't say I really like any of them. Two are aromatics, three are tobaccos, and one is Grape Vine (already listed on Craigslist). I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet on this vendor but in one more week I will pass my own personal judgement and either keep or dispose of all of it.

Devil Dog is a great juice to have on those days I just want someone to come up and kick me in the face with spiked shoes. :D

It actually does tend to ease up and become easier to handle as a person becomes accustomed to it. The first several times with a super aggressive tobacco like that can be quite the yowsa. Now I can relax with the English blend pipe vapes like Devil Dog, Apache from MOV, and London from W2V, and appreciate them without being overwhelmed. That said, they will never be something I want to vape 24/7.

Smooth Criminal will continue to make big changes as it steeps, set it down for a long nap and try again in a few weeks.

Do yourself a favor- Don't give up on this one! When I received my first bottle of Gold Rising, I also felt some disappointment with the way it smelled/tasted. I understood that Wlad's new Gold Rising wasn't a "traditional" RY-4, but I never imagined it would smell/taste this way. I steeped it for two weeks, and it didn't loose much of it's pungent-ness. At week three, it began just smelling like one of Ahlusion's aromatic tobaccos. Anyway... I filled up my cotton wicked A-7 RBA wrapped to 1.4 ohms and fired it up and it was, well....INCREDIBLE. Tobacco is definitely the star of the show... sweet tobacco, with an ever-so-slight sour to keep it well balanced. One would expect a deep, rich tobacco like this to be a "dirty burner", but GR is one of the cleanest NET tobacco's that I've ever had! Vaping GR is an experience that I can't put in words. It completely satisfies me with it's vapor production, TH, and flavor- like no other juice has ever done before. GR has become my ADV and is truly destined for greatness!

I really feel that Smooth Criminal and Gold Rising are the Holy Grails of E-liquid!

Revisit SC it in 4-6 weeks and I think you'll agree... It transforms into something wonderful

Devil Dog is not for everyone. I for one, can only handle 1 or 2 hits before I have to put it away. DD will knock one's "Richard" in the dirt!

Argh! The store is closed. Wanted to re-up my Peachy and Smooth Criminals. Those are two juices I think I cannot be without. I like them both fairly fresh, but Smooth Criminal especially after like a month.

Oh, and I don't remember getting a response to feedback e-mails but once. I had a question about one of the juices.

I kind of wish they would send the feedback e-mail a little later after the order. Most times I had gotten it within 2 weeks and a lot of their juices transform past the coupon expiration date. It often turned out quite a few juices changed (for the better) since sending the feedback. Now I just wait to send the feedback.

Thanks Randy. I have put this one in the steeping box for Sept 7. That's 4 weeks out and what I normally give tobaccos. Just hoping that smell goes away. I probably won't give it a sniff until then.

Please let us know what you think. Don't be afraid to vape GR; even if it smells a little funky in the bottle. There is a big difference between the way GR smells and the way it vapes.

As a matter of fact, I recommend that you DONT smell it in the bottle again... I've learned my lesson with this. There have been times unpleasant notes have gotten stuck in my head, then my brain exaggerated these notes when the juice was vaped. An example of this for me was Mom & Pops RY4-V2. When I first received it, all I could smell was TA-it was just nastly!. I revisited this juice week after week and the tobacco absolute was overwhelming. I refrained from "sniffing" it for a few weeks and fired it up.... I found I was oddly attracted to the TA in RY4V2- Kind of strange how I hated the smell of it in its "Raw" form.

They arrived!

only a little disappointed that my free sample of apple wild wood wasn't included.
I just checked and there is a flashing yellow bar that says not currently available as sample, but I must have missed that when I ordered.

So, what do you think? Did you try them yet?

Just wanna chime in on the whole Gold Rising thing.....
Most RY4s taste/smell the same when they're fresh. Like all of them, they seem to benefit from a long steep, more so than most juices. Once steeped, you'll likely find it very smooth and tasty.
What worked for me, with GR and any RY4, was a hot water bath. I'm not talking about getting some water fairly hot then soaking the bottle while the water comes to room temp, I'm talking about simmering it in hot water (not boiling, but hot) for about 3-4 hours with constant temp, then letting it cool. A mini-crock pot is perfect for this. This ages all my juices nicely, but RY4s specifically its very effective.
Do that for 3-4 hours, shake it, let it sit/shake for a week or two, it should transform to what it was meant to be.
Gold Rising is actually one of the finest RY4s I've had, once its blended.

If that's the case, just email them with the same thing you just wrote and they'll work with you as they should.
