I had written that before I discovered Ahlusion's aromatic tobaccos. They are the first, and only, ones I've found that are close to an actual "smoked" rich and bold tobacco. It was shocking at first, because I didn't think it was possible. I wrote about it in this thread at the time - a few weeks ago.

Have you tried any of them?

OHHHHHHH. I wondered about that.

None at all for me, unless I've put it in a Protank with a coil still soaked in a fruit liquid.

I used my Arrow micro genesis, which had Queenside in it prior. Cleaned it out thoroughly, dry burned the coil, and replaced the cotton wick. I am starting to wonder about coils, though. It's not the first time I've detected what might be residual flavor with new wicks. Could it be that they get flavor somehow imbedded in them, in spite of dry burning? And maybe only certain juices are susceptible to picking it up - the subtle ones. Also, maybe only certain flavors get imbedded. Dunno really.

Any interest in a super generous trade where you get Sweet Georgia Peach 15ml, Blue Grass Burley 30 and 15ml, and Devil Dog 15ml in return for a few 10mls of whatever non -aromatic Ahlusion? I'm desperate to offload the lot. As a one-time lover of robust pipe tobaccos, cigars, as well as cigs I figured I'd find true treats in these. They're frequently touted as the thing for the true, discerning tobacco afficionado, and what former smoker who, at first, scoffs at all the namby-pamby, tutti-frutti tastes on tap wouldn't find that tempting? The aromatics come across as a statement; a statement many of us would want to make. Now, I see them as a totally noble but truly failed experiment. Robust pipe and cigar tobaccos taste remarkable. But I believe tobacco is meant to be burned. With starry eyes, I told myself that the aromatics were sous vide to BBQ. Missing the maillard reaction, but nonetheless true to the meat. Today, I see them as fish oil to a properly prepared fillet, where slurping fish oil can in no way capture the essence of, say, smoked salmon. The aromatics promise to take you back to your dorm party days. One day in particular. The one when you picked up a warm can of Schlitz or whatever and accidentally sucked down spent cigarettes and ash in a slurry of diabolically bad beer. For this reason, I strongly advise any newcomers to only order a single one and at low volume to see how it handles. Aromatics sound sexy til they treat you to their ash sludge. And all this is out of love for Ahlusion, as the thought that terrifies me most is that a newcomer won't survive that first encounter with soggy ashtray sludge to taste the other terrific Ahlusion offerings. :vapor:

Then again, I never did dip. And seeing how the aromatics are so similar to somehow hooking a hookah up to a full spittoon, they might hit someone's sweet spot!

Yeah, in my experience it depends on the juice. Sarsaparilla or Cherry Cola, for instance, tend to claim a wick as their's forever, no matter how the wick is cleaned. Strong fruit has done the same. I don't have all that awesome gear you've got (jealous!), but I keep separate protanks for tobaccos, fruits, and totally separate coils for Pluid and a few others.

Edit: Oh, and another reason I suspect this is what's happening is that desperado is mild, and likely a flavor sponge. That mildness is among its selling points though, as it means you can vape it all day at work or wherever and never get tired of it.

OK, I lied about letting my Ahl's arrivals steep for at least a few days. The aromas proved too alluring (with the glaring exception of that Devil Dog of course). So I've tried the Chai Latte as previously mentioned. That's a keeper right out of the gate. But I have enough bottles sitting around that I should be able to keep this one around for a while to see how it improves. But the Sahara, one day after arrival, is really delightful. I suppose the tobacco will come through better over time, but I don't taste it at all now. And that's perfectly ok with me. What I get now is a light, faintly sweet, and mostly REFRESHING flavor that I really like. It reminds me somehow of a cold glass of light sweetened iced tea with lemon. I don't actually taste lemon, but the overall impression is of a lemon tea from a powder mix. These days I'd rather have real tea but as a kid I loved the mix stuff, and this takes me back to that, somehow. Is Sahara a NET? I'm sure it's been answered before but I couldn't find it.

I'm finding it kind of funny how disappointed I was with tobacco flavors at first because they didn't taste anything like tobacco. But now that I've hit on Ahlusion and HHV, I've changed my tune. I like 'em a little sweet. I have a feeling that I'm going to be putting my Devil Dog in the classies, and I haven't even tried that one yet.

I also like Chai Latte straight from the mailbox, it was surprisingly well blended fresh for being a tea with so many spices. Didn't seem to change much with age.

Yeah Sahara Blend is a NET. Haven't heard any confimation from the maker himself, but many seem to think it's a comination of synthetic and extracted tobacco. My guess is it's Virginia tobacco extract and Turkish synthetic flavoring. I guess the Sahara from Apollo is a juice that's the exact same tasting synthetic Turkish tobacco minus the body of the added NET. I'm guessing the soon to be released Sweet Virginia will be Sahara Blend's NET minus the Turkish synthetic flavoring.

Notice my use of the word guess.. unless we get confirmation of the recipe from Wlad himself it's all conjecture. I'd be comfortable betting a dollar on my theory though.

Try the DD before you send it away.

Thank you both for the comments on the Chai Latte. Seems to confirm my suspicion that I'll like it next time I try it unsweetened, and I'll go for the Latte version first instead of the Masala Chai. :)

... and if you don't like it try it again in a few days, and then try it again in another few days.

Like sushi, the first time I tried it it was weird and gross. If I never tried it again later, I would have missed out on what now is by far my favorite food.

Yeah Chai Latte is already a sweet beverage, and the vape was sweet like a Chai Latte. For the Ahl juices that have the sweetned option, it's usually a choice of sweet or extra sweet, not sweetened or unsweetened, if that makes sense. I never choose the option to add extra sweetener; that's really only for people who've had the juice and still want it sweeter or already know they like their vapes extra sweet.

Thanks for posting this! It re-affirms that I made the right choice. I ordered several juices that had the option of sweetener, and I opted not to add it. I like a sweet vape, but not TOO sweet. Whew.

I finally got my first "sweetened" option on JG Blend with Light Roast. It is surprisingly good. No, not too sweet and actually not all that light on the light roast, but I think it is a very solid vape. I can't remember what it was like with dark roast unsweetened, but I would likely buy this bottle (I think) if I had to re-up.

I think Ahlusion does a pretty good job at picking a great level of sweet for their juices. Without ever using the extra option, I've never had a vape from them I wanted either sweeter or found to be too sweet. But if I do come across a juice that I would like to have more sweetness, it's nice to have the option of requesting it next order.

I used a fresh wick. I was wondering about the actual coil. I could definitely see a wick getting pwned by a juice, but a coil would surprise me. Maybe I'll test the theory one day, but I don't feel like rolling more coils atm.

Oh my bad. Not sure about the coil itself. Could be unsteeped Desperado gives you a fruit note. I've never detected it.

I was not impressed with want2vape's juices, but keep in mind that hate PG with a passion! - they have a juice that is supposed to taste like Red Man but it wasn't even close - I do recommend their "Atty refresher", however! - it works magic!

my latest thing is combining wholecig's WTA with Boba's or VCV's Night Shift or both.
yummy pure VG + full alkaloids = oh YEAH!!

Oh good, so its not just me. I've said for a long time that the aros are ashy and I've never been a fan.. but to the serious tobacco aficionados they seem to the gold standard of vapable tobacco. I never smoked cigar or pipe or hookah so I honestly don't even know if the aros are a good representative of those.. but whether they are or aren't, I know they're not for me. I sure do like the non aros tho. :)

Ha! That atty refresher is GOLD! And you know I am with you on the WC. FYI, Paris from w2v is high VG.
