Just keep your self respect and buy some nicorette. Or cram yourself into a closet and risk getting kicked off the flight by blowing vapor down a poo hole. Whatever.

What're they gonna do -- barge in on you while you're in the john and then land the plane where ever they're at just to kick you off? LOL

I don't think it'd be that big of a thing, even if they did for some weird reason barge in on you.

Well now a days they can arrest you for pretty much anything in-flight... including causing a disruption or interfering with flight crew.

And by kicked off, it could mean no return flight, or no connection flight... perhaps banned from flying Air Canada again.

The smoke detectors aren't really there to catch filthy smokers... they're there to warn about a fire. If it goes off, it's taken pretty seriously, and I wouldn't even be surprised if it's standard procedure to reroute the plane to the nearest airport.

My advice, and the consensus on ECF should be to follow airline policies and not rock the boat. What did you do before vaping? Smoke on the flight?

I'm not saying it's intrinsically wrong to vape on a plane... just saying we should respect these policies, just like any establishment. Last thing we need is someone getting fed up and pushing a public no-vaping law.

Ahh remember the good old days when you could smoke on the plane or on the bus (Greyhound). Made traveling that much more bearable. Maybe that's why everyone is in such a bad mood. Maybe they should pump nic juice in to the air system. Or maybe Prozac.

I stealth vaped Air Canada this Christmas! My ecig is bubblegum pink though, I don't know if that makes me look more adorable and less guilty, or if I was just really sneaky.

I didn't really care about the consequence of never being able to fly Air Canada again, anyway. This was the first time in 3 years I haven't chosen a different airline just to avoid them. :p

Didn't one airline sell e-cigs on board specifically to be used on the flight?

ummm.... yup. But not on a North American flight. Apparently used to be allowed - but they banned it first.

European airplanes and airports used to be covered in lovely clouds of stinky cigarette, cigar and pipe smoke - with happy, relaxed travellers sipping wine and tasting cheese.... ahh... those were the days.
