Greetings,
today is my first smoke free day and I'm vaping away! I have yet to take my mod and tank anywhere, but I have a flight at theend of the month and was curious about tips on travel, airports, etc.
Any suggestions on holders or carrying cases would also be great.
Thanks!!

Hello, I took a trip last June, I flew to Florida and back and I had mine with me in my pocket, now obviously you can't use it, but they didn't question it keep juice in containers of the appropriate size and you should be fine, I even had extra juice and batteries in my bag.

I travel 1-2 time per month for business. I put my gear in my carry on bag and run it through the x-ray machine fine. Most TSA screeners are becoming familiar with vape gear and will not flag it. On rare occasion they will ask for a hand search of the bag. TSA alllows 100ml of liquids in carry ons, so you should be able to bring plenty of juice with you. If you need more, put it in checked baggage. Try not put batteries or mods in checked baggage. It's not illegal, but there was a battery that exploded in a bag that caused a scare. No need to feed the anti-vaping haters. ANALYSIS: Boston Logan fire spurs e-cigarette concerns - 10/7/2014 - Flight Global

The change cabin air pressure has been my biggest enemy. Tanks filled with juice will leak through their air holes or drip tips because a during ascent the cabin air pressure decreases and causes your juice to expand. First I just put my Nautilus and Kayfun in plastic baggies, but it got too messy. So now I empty my tanks preflight and use a RDA if I need a quick vape after leaving the airport (please don't vape on the plane, although it's OK in some airports.)

There are a few things I always caution about flying:

First depending on the tank style you may want to have very little liquid in the take at take off. I once had a cartomizer tank dump on me from the air pressure change. Those only wick based on your inhale and the pressure change was enough to push most of the liquid into the coil area and the excess poured out.

Second follow their liquid storage for carry-on guidlines. All my extra juice goes under the plane in a checked bag or I pre-mail it to relatives if im visiting home.

Third has happened to me a few times but not always. Extra screenings at the check point, depending on how popular vaping is in your area, they may stop and question your items. It's important to remain calm and not get into a fuss. One of my co-workers did and missed his flight home.

Put tanks with juice in them in old medicine bottles, with a little bit of cotton if you want, and keep the tanks upside down - makes them much less likely to leak, and if they do happen to leak anyway, the bottle contains the mess and the cotton will soak it up... Upside down works well for any pressure changes (airplanes, up and down mountains, whatever).
