Long story short, drilled my air hole out to 5/64, love it for a lot of stuff, loss of flavor for others. So instead of buying another RM2, inspired by one done by Pdib, I made myself and airflow control ring. My first attempt was functional, but it was uneven not very pretty at all and can be seen here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-pretty-but-i-made-air-flow-control-ring.html.

So in efforts to clean up the look, I tried, tried again! I found a little piece of copper piping that was slightly larger than the diameter of the RM2 (which I failed to take a picture of), cut a piece off the bottom, cut a section out and drilled a 1/16 hole. Then did much grinding and sanding to get it smooth and pretty.

Again I post this partially because I am not very handy, so if I can do this, so can you! You could drill a bunch different size holes like Pdibs, but I only need two, the 1/16 of the ring and the 5/64 on the RM2.

Here's how it came out:

Cool idea.

If you were to hold the Reo upside down, would the ring fall off?

It's not that loose, but it slides on and off easily. I only really use for some of the lighter flavors I have. I really like the airy draw of the 5/64 airhole, but, for instance, I have some Hawk Sauce that I ordered max VG w/ no shots. Flavor was pretty light to begin with, and I could barely taste it after I drilled it out. So the original ring was an attempt, and success, at going back the 1/16 hole I drilled out almost immediately after getting my rm2. This try was just to make it a little 'prettier'.

Very cool.

The dude from Z Vapes has a cool little YouTube bit on the whole air flow/ohm relationship. If you haven't checked it out, you should.

After watching it, I totally get why my Wife and a few buddies start to take a drag off my low ohm mechs and pull it away from their face with that "double you T eff" look on their face lol. In a nut shell, low res, big air holes= nice fast, strong draw. It keeps the coils cool and allows for nice air flow and a yummy full vape. Typically when they push the fire button and hear all that fun, smack crack & poppin they naturally just take a really light, timid drag. They are getting HOT, harsh vapor.

But to get back to your point, make sure your resistance is low enough on that Hawk Sauce. If you aren't in the .5ish realm with a 5/64 air hole you aren't getting the most bang for your buck :D

Edit: Search YT for something like "Quick Primer on air flow", or something along those lines..

Thank you for posting this. I really had a hard time understanding the airflow, sub ohm, flavor relationship. How does this relate to nic absorption?

From what I'd read, most ecig nic absorption takes place in the mouth and nose. The hard draws being taken appear to be lung hits. So are you getting less nic absorption this way?

And to get back to the OP, I'm really hoping that when Robs done with his run of woodies, he turns his attention to an RM3.0, all stainless with adjustable airflow control. I just know id probably mess up doing this myself, so it's either grind down for a cyclone afc or hope that Rob thinks this is a good idea.
