Airlock on V4(clone)

I been working my way through that monster thread but not done yet.

In the mean time I have an unknown clone, from MFS.

I'm testing on clones before buying a legit.

I will admitt up front looks matter to me and I'm sold on the V4's looks. Huge plus is SM are my initials.

I've built it several times. High ohmΩ+low W's+AFC=so-so flavor. Not will to take a 180 dollar hit for a bada** looking Kanger T3. However at .8Ω and 20ish watts with the AFC screw in the garbage the flavor is good. Not as good as a well built Orchid but close enough. I don't have the 4S kit but it doesn't get warm so it seems ok.

Now the bad. The thing airlocks on me. It does this with any build and with/without the AFC screw. And oh mother is it a dry hit. And I never know when its coming. Only way to fix it is to lock the JC and unscrew the fill port. The fix isn't a big deal its the dry hit.

Is this a known issue with a fix?? Bad unit?? Am I doing something incorrectly??

I would check for metal shavings in all the juice feed holes. They may look clean, but really aren't. Go through all of them by twisting a tiny drill bit (by hand) through each one.

If you don't find any debris, its probably a matter of mastering the wicking.

Is your juice control opening all the way?

I have the same problem with the dry hits and airlock. I have the HCigar clone and I am building at 1 ohm and running it at 17 watts. I love the flavor of the v4 so I am working on my wicking so I can enjoy it more. I have checked all the juice feed holes and they are free of debris.

My air holes and everything else is clear.

Looked at the legit $180 Kayfun today and thought maybe. Then the clerk set me up with a Goliath.

Kinda not sure at the moment. I ordered another clone K4 today from a different place. If lightning strikes twice I'll skip the Kayfun for use and use them as mod toppers in my collection.

I would definitely bet it's the wicking.I had exactly the same issue when i got my first one,a few fantastic hits,then BAM nasty dry hit haha.I thought the same thing,maybe i got a bad one,so i bought another,and had the same problem.After reading through alot of posts and looking at alot of pictures,i followed the way others were wicking it,and now have 2 fantastic atties that work extremely well.

I learned elsewhere last night and here this morning the answer was staring me right in the face all along.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.

K4 on Orchid or Silverplay base. Of coarse I don't have a Orchid V4 base here,or a silverplay, so it will take a couple week.

The look of a Kayfun with the performance of a Orchid.

I'm getting giddy. Gonna be a long two weeks unless I buy local.
