Just an intro:
I have been exclusively dripping since I left my protanks and nautilus behind nearly 8 months ago. This isn't a "how do build a coil" post.
So, I was at the mall with my girlfriend and we walked past the vape shop inside. She had been complaining about my "new toy"(unregulated series 26650 box) all morning. Seeing an Orchid v4 clone sitting in the window for $19.99, I splurged. After trying other folks (my regular vape shop has a great community) Kayfuns and thinking this will tone down my cloud chasing a lot; it turns out that was a bit off. Things in this industry change fast and caught me off guard. Now it's nothing like breaking 200 watts on my Mephisto and series box, but the Orchid really hits and draws well. I've done a 26 g, 1.5mm ID, 10 wrap, dual coil @ 0.51 ohm. Doing the same build on my Tugboat v2 definitely out performs it (to be totally fair that build came out at 0.50 ohm), but it has no tank, and less density. I am really impressed on all fronts, and may consider adding another tank or two to my collection. This build did well up until about 60 watts on the regulated box just playing around. If I could hit 100 watts on a RTA I may never go back. Does anything like that exist yet?
Side note:
Perhaps building at a high level for a long while has jaded me, but I enjoy a challenging build/wick. I had heard the Orchid has both, and am entirely disappointed on that front. This thing is as easy as any split post rda.
