Well, I just got notification that my application for my first apartment was approved! I sign the lease and move in the day after Christmas. Of course that means my NT budget will tank, but I figure I can spare enough to treat myself at least once a month. Celebrating tonight with a nice mix of very well steeped Doodle and veerrrry well steeped Frenilla. Gonna order me some Strawnilla tomorrow to continue the celebrations!

Congratulations...got our first apartment in 1979. Was the 2nd floor of an older couples home. The place had steam heat over which we had no control. Seems like it was 92 degrees in the winter and a little warmer in the summer. Damn nice hardwood floors though. It was ours and we were very excited. If memory serves it was $125 per month.

Indeed, our current cable bill is more than our rent was then. Cable was like $7 a month then. Of course you only got like 8 channels.

Holy Hannah! I lived in DFW for 8 years back in the 80's.
Shared an apartment with 1 person for like $300 - It was a 3 bedroom with 2 patio's on the 3rd floor with all the bells and whistles...
And that was in Addison!
Talk about inflation!

our townhouse complex wanted to charge us double your rent for 1200sqft- so we bought a 3200sqft house on almost 2 acres for less per month.

self-reliance ain't cheap.. but totally worth it. happy for you!

Mine is a one bedroom, upgraded appliances, washer and dryer supplied and 840 square feet. In Fort Worth, around 20 and Hulen.

my first apartment, after I got out of the Marine Corps was 500 including electric. Damn, am I that freakin old?? hahahaha congrats on gettin ur first place. Enjoy it man.

Although I loved the metroplex for EVERYTHING you can do, it was just TOO much for me and headed down to Austin.

I would take almost anywhere in TX over FL though! There are a couple of places in E Texas that just are wrong for every reason! Your banner explains it very well!

I wouldn't mind Austin. Jester King brewing is down there. I like where I am. Smack dab between my 2 favorite liquor stores, a stones throw from 3 vape shops, right next to the mall, across the street from a freebirds, and 3 miles to work instead of the 30 I have been driving.

Congratulations!!! Welcome to the real world? I've always like that Ft. Worth, Arlington and Grand Prairie were just suburbs of Dallas. Loved the Big D!

Honestly it'll just be nice to have somewhere to out my stuff. My room is overflowing. When my family moved back to our smaller house I moved into a smaller bedroom. 10 pounds of stuff in a 2 pound sack lol.
