Raidy, do you think the wick would give off mg's instead of µg's? Unless you eat the wick I'm sure it could actually beautify the skin a bit..... lol

Sorry l3oertjie,
I will make no atty, which is definitely not better than a China-atty.
I want the FDA and the German authorities have no way to attack.
I will advance the quality of the attys.
So I think not even on copper.
This should not be a criticism, but this way I will not go.

Let us make a atty, where the FDA goes k.o. in "round one".

I found that also, but the price is a little painful though. On the germany ebay there are some killer deals on mesh, but won't ship here. With the sampler kit I got, I'll try all of them. I hope 325 or 500 work well because amazon has those for $15 fo Amazon.com: Stainless Steel Type 304 Mesh #325 X 325 .0011" Wire Diameter 24" x 24": Industrial & Scientific and $30 for 24"x12" of Amazon.com: Stainless Steel Type 304 Mesh #500 X 500 .001" Wire Diameter 12" x 24": Industrial & Scientific, and I'm an amazon prime member so free 2nd day air or $4 overnight :D

How come many people cook in copper saucepans then???

People use copper pans for very limited usage. It can be used for items such as egg whites, because it will not change the egg whites to a greyish color like aluminum will. Copper, even in the most fancy kitchens, is not widely used. It has more of a nitch use. The color makes it highly visible, so i can understand how someone would think that it is used all the time. But, it isnt used very much at all because of health concerns. Copper is very reactive. It can even be used as a catalyst in some reactions. Raidy is correct in that you would NOT want to use this for this application. Frankly, copper pots have more use as a decoration than most chefs will get out of actually using them during preperation of any meal.

On the flip side, It is a fantastic conductor. If insulated from any fluids, and open air, it is could be used for its conductive properties. But, please do not use it for any application that will put it in contact with fluids/open air. The Statue of Liberty is copper. I would not recommend inhaling anything evaporated off of that surface. Using copper as the mesh or the heating element would be the same as snorting fluid off that statue... Not a good idea.

I am not saying that i do not like your thought proccess. I do like it. I just think this particular material choice is a poor one.

Willriker - relax. I wasn't going to use copper - I was just curious. Can someone explain the oxidisation process on the SS mesh for me? What would happen if the mesh was not oxidised (just being curious again :))
