Quick, if you had a lip on the base and genesis top piece for the tubing to but up against it would stop the tubing coming off wouldn't it?

I don't understand arjay. The top and bottom caps do have lips. When you look at the pic and see the end/wall of the vinyl tube you are only seeing about half the wall thickness. The rest of the wall thickness is butted up against the lip on the cap. Is that what you meant? The wall thickness is about 1/8". What you see sticking out past the end cap in the pic is just a tiny bit more than 1/16th.

Quick, you've got a lip and compressing too much is not your problem, its bending or pulling off. Vinyl stretches and can develop memory over time. Another solutin for you would be to maximize the vinyl lenght outside the o-rings and have metal rings (very short piece of tubing the right size) that is snug over the vinyl but wont pass over the o-ring. This would have the effect of the screw clamp things but would have a much smoother finish. It might be easier with thicker o-rings even.

Ahhh, I understand now. A collar. Not sure how mechanically feasible that would be. The vinyl needs to be pretty thick walled to have rigidity (maintain the barrel shape and not squish/deform easily). That means the bulge over the o-ring would be fairly "gradual" and the length of tubing after the o-ring would have to be relatively long. I may need to look for tiny hose clamps (ugly), or try silicone sealer to glue it, or give up and try with rigid plastic again.

Quick, there's something I've been meaning to try, but I haven't got around to it. That is a glue kit for a rear view mirror on a windshield. I don't know how well it works on plastic, but it does not get rock hard on glass.

That's a thought (I would be suspicious of nasty chemicals in something like that), but I want something semi-permanent in case I need to dissemble for some reason or other I don't want to destroy the tank. Then again, a vinyl tank isn't all that big of a deal. Depends on how often it needs to come apart.

It's been about 20 years since I've used this glue, so I don't remember if it is a two part. If it is, it will probably cure completely. I'll probably be getting some before long and will try it, regardless of what it is. If I don't taste anything, then I'm not going to worry about the long term effects. I'm old enough to kick the bucket almost any day now, heheh.

Hello Raidy
First I would like to thank you for sharing the Great Genisis with all of us . We waited a month to see more of your designs of the more developed one . And time is going by and no word or mention of anything coming . Your thread falls to the second page of modding section . I know how new projects can take time and become all consuming . But a writing some to keep this thread alive is important to more than just a few people . Please a post or two every day or two would work .
Lots and lots of people are waiting to hear from you . Can you let them down ?:(

I bought one of these at Autozone last year to build a mod and never used it. It is ideal because the big end unscrews for hiding cash or whatever but 2-3 batteries would fit. I post it here because it looks like the pipe and I would like someone to pick up my idea and finish it like my screw syringe juicer idea.

I have good ideas but sometimes don't finish projects. :)

I think the dimensions on that pic are off though, mine is wider and shorter but that seems to be the same knob.

Search for different shift knobs and 1/2 your work is done:

Raidy, I just found this thread last night and have only made it up to page 70+ so far (I would be farther into the thread, but I keep going back to drool :) ), and from what I have seen I sit here in amazement. I believe your innovative ideas are going to take the e-cig world by storm and may possibly be what it takes to really go mainstream.
