GB, yes there is, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.... That's why I want to wait for Raidy's part 2. The genesis works, but not as good as others I've tried.... The s/s wick will last for a long time for sure, but the silica seems to deliverer a far better TH and taste in the short run....

I don't know yet. Wait for Raidy to get back.... He will be able to answer my questions I hope.

How many ohms is the coil when it's ready and complete?
Is it between 2.5 and 3Ω ?
(measured near the battery, so that the measurement includes the solder joints)

That depends on how you make it, loops, etc. I think 'jens' said his was 1.7 or so on his video, he does say.

it's the coil length that determines the coil length's resistance, but it's the simple 3 loops on the 2mm wick that made all that vapor

i compared this to the e2 which has as many as 6 loops and it looks like less than 2mm.
i was noticing that the vaporizing heat emmanates from the coil loops, 3 on Jensb but 6 on my e2, and my e2 hesitates frequently

My idea and hope is to be able to make a coil with nichrome mesh, has anyone tried it, or does anyone want to try that? I'm thinking that the SS mesh might deliver juice to the nichrome mesh.

I must be being dim but I do not understand the desire to use nichrome. Are you going to use it as the heating element? If so that sounds interesting but also like a big pain to connect to. You would have to make a connection along two parallel edges and then insulate the nichrome from the SS and itself, like a heater blanket. Is nichrome solderable? Ugh. Sorry for my super dimness this evening. Hey isn't chromium a poision?

I wouldn't solder it, and yes, it would wrap or fold once around the ss mesh, I'm just wondering how it would perform, and how quickly the gunk forms this way as opposed with the 3 or so loops of straight wire. But it's too early, and you're right, I don't know the alloy composition completely yet. If it's like the nichrome wire then I would like to try the mesh, tho I also have another plan to try and route at least the nichrome wire in and through the ss mesh... still early, so I'm just sharing ideas and thoughts, or micro clamps that could hold the nichrome/mesh to make the maintenance even easier?

Chromium probably is a poison, but the Chromium atoms are in the metal alloy.
Here is a simple video about the nichrome electrical circuits for anyone interested:

Oh it's ok Turbo thanks, that's fine, it's still nichrome (nickel-chromium wire).
There are many types of nichrome alloys:

Wire: Nichrome (tm) & Other Resistance Alloys - Tech Data

(it looks like wiretronic has Aluminum alloys too, the chart is at the bottom in the link)

Kanthal happens to have aluminum in it, and I do like the idea with aluminum, definitely, since aluminum is a good heat conductor and cools quickly. In time I'll hopefully get it too. The first ones I'll try might even be from existing cartos I have, and that's mainly why nichrome will be the first I try, although I'm not even sure which alloy the cartos use, I would think nichrome C,

There are also different alloys of Kanthal too.
