I wouldn't solder it, and yes, it would wrap or fold once around the ss mesh, I'm just wondering how it would perform, and how quickly the gunk forms this way as opposed with the 3 or so loops of straight wire. But it's too early, and you're right, I don't know the alloy composition completely yet. If it's like the nichrome wire then I would like to try the mesh, tho I also have another plan to try and route at least the nichrome wire in and through the ss mesh... still early, so I'm just sharing ideas and thoughts, or micro clamps that could hold the nichrome/mesh to make the maintenance even easier?

Chromium probably is a poison, but the Chromium atoms are in the metal alloy.

Good point on the chromium being tied up in the alloy. I think I was thinking of cadmium.

I like the idea from a self healing sort of way. Any small breaks would not matter as the mesh would still offer an electrical path and heat output. Cleaning could be a rough scrubbing sort of activity.

Raidy, I just read all 93 pages to date today. Absolutely Beautiful designs.

The suspense is very hard to bear. GummyBear has expressed some reservations. It seems there's maybe a dozen builds so far, but I find it very hard to get a sense of how many people do or do not like them so far. I'm sure Raidy will not crumble if some have trouble or don't like the design, and the saga will continue when he returns from his trip. But this quiet is the worst.

OK, I just found this and could kick myself for spending so much time buildind the end caps when this could be re-worked in a fraction of the time. If your using the 5/8" ID tubing this only needs to be shortened and have the barbs cut off. I got it at Lowes for 3 bucks.

And I was about to send you a PM about getting the caps turned. Should I now?

If it's brass don't use it.

Raidy went into brass a while ago. Like copper, it reacts with the juice (verdigris) and becomes poisonous.

Then there must be a lot of people getting poisoned right now from the brass fittings of their cartomizers. I'm not going to worry about brass unless it is heated to a high temperature.

Fair enough BR. All I know is that the chinese have kept the exposed brass in the E2 cartos to an absolute minimum and used other metals wherever possible. I think the only internal brass is a tiny exposed ring on the battery connector. Whereas Gummy's plumbing caps would have the juice sloshing up against large areas of brass.

What I find Ironic is the fears about brass when people have been smoking through it, eating from it and wearing it as jewelry for hundreds of years. and all the while we have no idea which rusty barrel in china the nic juice came from for something they are inhaling. I mean, Damn, if your that worried about brass, you shouldn't be smoking anything anyway. sounds like wiping down an injection site in the death chamber so that the one being put to death doesn't get an infection.

(I mean this as ironic humor not harshness)

I think we can use a brass spoon, we can drink in a brass glass, but, the point is the corrosion and the temp... what happens with the brass in contact with eliquid ??? what happens with brass in a chamber at high temp ??? what happens with the vapor particles touching brass element ??? May be someone with the apropiate knowledge can clarify to us.

somebody knows some brass element that is food friendly at present ? I know we use brass in all our plumbing connections, and also hot water connections may be brass...

The corrosion is the question. Eliquid, alcohol, PG, VG...and the vapor itself touching brass.... What it happens with this?

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Brass is an alloy of zinc and copper. keeping the heating element and juice reservoir away from any brass parts minimizes risk of any leaching, and even the Chinese have tried to do this. If the brass is shielded with say silicone for a reservoir or another metal layer to take the heat as in Gummy's endcaps, problems can be avoided too.

Electrically though, brass is great!

My vitamins have chromium in them.

The essentiality of chromium for human health, however, is without dispute. Chromium plays a role in the body's use of energy-providing carbohydrates, protein and fat and, when in short supply, is associated with impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes-like symptoms. In 1977, the first published case of a chromium-diabetes link showed that the severe diabetic symptoms that developed in a woman while on long-term parenteral nutrition (intravenous feeding) were alleviated by supplemental chromium.

Chromium deficiency causes insulin resistance, and supplementation with adequate chromium overcomes that resistance.

If you are an insulin resistant diabetic look into chromium supplementation.

I seem to be way too tolerant of glucose (keep having to buy larger pants). I should probably avoid chromium...
