Thanks to Raidy for his inspiring mods! I've finished reading through this thread and am now reading through http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/135786-some-homemade-attys-genesis-283.html . I'm a ex-machinist, now manufacturing engineer who likes to tinker and I think I found something new!

I want to come up with my own design for a bullet-proof PV that's easy to use but I'll need the knowledge on this forum to help me out a bit; especially with electronics.

I'm not sure if I can create a new thread yet as I'm new and I don't want to clutter this one but does anyone have the dimensions of all the standard connections (eg. 510, 910 etc.) so I don't need to go measuring and guessing?

My first PV is going to be .625" OD and I'm hoping to use AA size lithium with at least 800mah. I'd like to use some simple protection and/or PWM as well.

Thanks to Raidy again for the atty design to try first.

Nice. But where is this capacitor, in the ego? If you have a genisis that is behaving correctly for a few days with no shorts then it could be introduced to an ego battery.
There is no capacitors on eGo controller at all. I'm using my Genesis mostly on ProVari, I like it, it allows to adjust my senses on the fly. At home I use a stationery power supply with no limitations to power (considering e-cigs of course :) )
The purpose of my post was just to warn community about a possible problems. I don't make eGo, i only buy it and use it. Sometimes I try to find out what is inside.

Here is my "test device" to try the capacitor:

About connectors:
510, eGo - М7х0,5
901 - М8х0,75
Conus eGo, Fog - М12х0,5
AVS, AFS - М21х1

Is it what you asked?

Hi slimest,
that's a start but only the thread. I'm looking for the full dimensions of the connections so I can machine them. They must be available somewhere. Otherwise, lets say I want to buy some cheap parts to measure so I can copy a 510. Connector...what should I get? I'd like the battery connection on my mod to be the same as an ego_t....but I want to make my own battery tube.

Wonder over to MadVaps web site. they will get you started. It would cost you more in labor to build the connectors than they sell them for. Welcome to MadVapes LLC
Thanks GB,
I'm a little confused on the number associations though....which should I get so I could connect from a battery to an ego t atty for instance?

Standard in the modders world is a 510.
(but that is more like a guide line not a pirates code)

ego stuff has that silly sleeve that slips over the top of the battery. All that does is limit your battery tube diameter for the sake of aesthetics. They have a "standard" 510 connector inside. P.S. there is no real standard for connectors. Joye 510 connectors are the defacto standard. There is all kinds of stuff out there with slightly different pitched threads, slightly different center post dimensions and placement, etc... consider the source :)

These connectors (510, 901, etc) are proprietary, so you're unlikely to get the dimension from a blueprint. The common theme is a hole right through the middle. This is so you can use an auto battery. If you are not using and auto battery, then there is no need for the hole.

A better connector for your PV battery mod would be a female RCA cinch connector. If you make your own atty, you can use a standard RCA plug. If you want to use a Chinese atty, it is easy to make an adaptor out of an RCA jack and a purchased 501, etc battery connector. There is a You-Tube video on making these.

The RCA connector is more robust and less likly to be affected by fluid spillage. You can also rotate parts if you need to.

Here's a you tube video on a small RCA mod using an Ego-T tank:

Bulli Smoker in Germany sells some beautifully made PVs with RCA connectors (his A1 repairable atomiser comes with this fitting)

Have a look at his:
