As many of you already know my wife is allergic to PG e-liquids and even PG flavorings. Well for Christmas I got her the ONE thing she TRULY wanted....... a new tattoo. That was yesterday. Tonight she says " Honey, are you sure the E-juice you mixed me was 100% VG? I am breaking out really bad!" Of course I tell her yes but double check the bottles anyway, as I am I say "You know it would be FUNNY AS HELL if tattoo ink had PG in it and that is what is giving you trouble". WEEEEELLLLLLLLL a quick google search later and I am ROLLING on the floor laughing! Sure enough most tattoo ink has PG!!! Just a quick warning and laugh for you folks out there in ECF land!

No pain , just itchy hives all over her neck arms back and legs! ROFLMAO! She has another tattoo with no trouble so I am sure the symptoms will subside! At least I REALLLLY hope

Just out of curiosity . . . do either of the tattoos have red/purple/pink ink? There is a fairly rare allergic reaction to red inks . . . my wife has it. The purple in her tattoo welts up and itches her like crazy every couple months, and as described by my tattooist, it will forever.

i think its all in the ink that they use ... i am to a all vg user and had art work done 6 months ago my guy uses the good ink ... i would guess he had used the cheap ink ...

just my opp...there are good and average quality inks being used in the states ...

lawnman3...

Some inks are mixed with VG, some with PG. It depends on the pigment. About the only reason they are used is to prevent infection . . . in Muddy's case, it caused it.

 Sorry Muddy. It's sad, but kinda funny.

Lawnman, that COULD be but I truly don't think so. These guys are the most top-notch place we have and are very professional. I am NOT ruling it out though! She IS however very susceptible to PG reactions. I think it is just that she is hyper-sensitive. Do you use flavorings? If so are they PG free? I ask because we have only found one vendor that offers that and would LOVE to get her some more options!!!!

Freaky, so far all her work is black ink just like me! I think she will branch into color eventually. (UNLIKE me!!! LOL)

I am so flattered to be the topic of a thread  Thank goodness for benedryl, unfortunately 50 mg has not kicked in yet  .

@ Freaky...thanks for the info on the pink, purple, & red ink. Will definitely stay away from that.

LOL, yeah . . . google red tattoo ink allergy and see what comes up. I will reach over and feel my wife's tattoo sometimes . . . it's creepy when it gets all raised.

I was getting ready to ask if anyone had given the poor wife some benadryl for her hives... lol... good to know. I have my first and only tattoo that covers a good portion of my back. I got it for surviving a rigorous and concussion filled black belt test. After the first of the swelling and itching subsided I get hives everytime I scrub my back with soap. If I wash it normally with soap no problem, but if I use even a soft scrubbie I am covered in hives. Dunno but I am sensitive to PG just not that allergic. I am switching soaps to Ivory, no dies, no perfumes and hopefully no PG..
GOOD LUCK

constant state of confusion
Benadryl has finally kicked in. Hives still present, but itching has subsided for now:thumbs:. Unfortunately, itching will resume in several hours...while in bed sleeping:grr:

So you are the evil one who must be destroyed! Just kidding...feel like I know you already. We should really talk ;). Hi John (she says waving with an impish smile.)

Yes, tis me. He has tried but has failed miserably at destroying me. Well maybe the new tattoo will finally do it....and all it's PG goodness. I think he knew. LOL.

It has been 72 hours since my tattoo. Today, I have not reached for the benadryl. I have been really good about only vaping my VG flavorless (not sampling hubby's tasty's). No hives as of yet. Going to sleep is the worst part of the break out. I will let you know if I am raw from my back, stomach, and thighs tomorrow. As of now...I am okay.
