I hope someone can answer this question. I ordered from two different vendors and after sampling them in no particular order, I broke out in hives! I have tried pg, vg, and many different mixtures of the two without a problem for months now. It must have been an additive one of the vendors uses. I'm afraid to try them again!

Logic would have me believe it is only one of the vendors or maybe even just one of the juices. Can I rub a bit on my skin in an inconspicuous area or something? I really liked most of the samples and hate to just sit here vaping on the ole standbys while the new juices tempt me.

Any ideas anyone?

I know that many people have allergies ONLY to a flavoring ingredient in liquid. Finding one that they can vape can be difficult. Best to try to get PIF liquid, buy off the ECF Classifieds or purchase small samples to see if you can vape it first if you are concerned.

My friend has had one hell of a time with flavorings and allergies, and has finally found a few liquids she can vape without reactions. One is Vapor Station's e-liquids (made in India), EcoPure liquids and Backwoods Brew. After 2 years, she still is unable to determine exactly what the ingredient was in all the other e-liquids that caused her the problems.

Best thing to do is stick to using one liquid at a time so you can make sure you can use it without problems. Give it a few weeks, as we can become allergic to something after a build up in our system. Test only in a new atomizer so you don't have ingredients left over from other liquids.

If you aren't sure if it is VG or PG... use a NEW atomizer and vape only VG (with a few drops of purified water to thin) for a day. If no problems, try another new atomizer and vape only PG. If you don't have reactions to either of those... it's most likely a flavoring issue.

Have an antihistimine on hand too... take it as soon as you have a reaction. If it gets bad, see if you Doctor can help.

I think your doctor can skin test for VG and PG? Rubbing it on your arm would only show contact dermatitis I think, so you'd have to get it put inside your skin by your Doctor for a good reading??

Getting a full list of what is in an e-liquid might prove to be pretty difficult, as well as getting tests for all the ingredients, but you could try to ask the supplier of your e-liquid that you know is causing a problem to see if they know what is different in just that liquid to try and narrow down what flavoring is causing the problem.

This is an example of common Chinese liquid ingredients (but may have different flavoring ingredients depending on what flavor you vape):
TOBACCO ESSENCIAL FLAVOR£¬VIRGINIA <5%
TOBACCO ABSOLUTE£¬ VIRGINIA <5%
TOBACCO ABSOLUTE£¬ BURLEY <5%
ORIENT TOBACCO ABSOLUTE£¬TURKY <5%
NICOTINE £ ¨FROM TOBACCO LEAF£© <1.2%
2£¬3£¬5-TRIMETHYLPYRAZINE <1%
2£¬3-DIMETHYLPYRAZINE <1%
2£¬5-DIMETHYLPYRAZINE <1%
2-ETHYLPYRAZINE <1%
2-ACETYLPYRAZINE <1%
4-£¨2£¬6£¬6-TRIMETHYLCYCLOHEX-2-BUTENE-4-ONE£© <5%
4-£¨2£¬6£¬6-TRIMETHYLCYCLOHEX-3-BUTENE-4-ONE£© <2%
LINAL0OL <2%
MENTHOL <2%
METHYL BUTYRIC ACID (2-) <2%
ROSE OIL,BULGARIAN,TRUE OTTO <2%
VANILLA EXTRACT <5%
OCTALACTONE(GAMMA-) <1%
UNDECALACTONE(GAMMA-) <1%
PURE WATER <20%
PROPYLENE GLYCOL >50%
GLYCEROL <10%

(as you can see, this contains BOTH PG and VG (glycerol) so you really have to ask when buying liquids to see if there is any VG).

This is a report for Totally Wicked's liquid, which includes an ingredient list:
Lab Reports / E Liquid Facts / E Cigarettes and E Liquid from Totally Wicked

Good luck!!
