I've been a smoker for oh, around 3 years. I started out in college just smoking in occasional social situations. That continued post college until my wife was pregnant with our first. The stress got to me and I started smoking 1 to 2 cigs a day.

Parenting pushed that up to a bit more, and then I started working at home. Well that 1 to 2 a day turned into about 4 a day. Then working from home turned into unemployment when I quit my job. From that point on I've been smoking around half a PAD for the past 2 years or so.

My wife knew that I smoked but she didn't really know how much. I'm a closet smoker so the only people who know are my wife, and 2 coworkers. Everyone I know hates it, so I keep it on the DL. It was really bad bc I have to sneak them, and we all know that isn't easy and when it's a long work day, or a long family day I'm about ready to kill someone by the time I can sneak away.

I'm pretty ashamed to admit it, but I have a smoking jacket. Its not a cool older gentleman smoking jacket, its a black nylon jacket that I wear to keep the smell off me. Every time I leave the house, I leave with my Marlboro Smooth, a lighter and that damn black jacket. I have various places around town that I know I can pull into and jump out of the car with my jacket and a quick smoke. Hotels, abandoned building parking lots, parks, etc.

I tried the gum but it didn't take. I don't like the taste, or the way the nicotine hit my throat. And it takes too long. When that craving hits, I don't want to chew a piece of nasty gum for 30 mins. I need a quick fix.

But that was before I got my e-cig. I order a 510-T with a manual battery and 5 30 mL bottles of Menthol. I haven't smoked an analog in 3 days and I haven't missed them. I don't even have any analogs anymore. I carry this thing with me everywhere and I love it!

A tank lasts me about 2 days, same as the regular sized manual battery. I'm not a huge vaper, and I've been so pleased with how this has worked out so far. I just pull it out and take a few drags when I feel the urge. I can smoke inside! I can sneak into the bathroom so the kids don't see! I can stealth vape hiding it in my hand, and blow the vapor into a cup or my shirt. It doesn't smell! It's a gift from the heavens.

My plan is to quit smoking entirely. My wife has given me a 1 year deadline to quit everything after I told her about the e-cig, and how I had quit the analogs. My started kit came with 5 bottles of different nicotine levels from 24 down to 0 so I'm just going to step down the nicotine to 0, and then try to quit vaping.

I'll keep everyone up to date. I know it'll still be difficult, but I'm thrilled that I'm not sucking on cancer sticks anymore. At least as far as we know.

Hi gvegastiger and welcome to ECF. LOL'ed at the smoking jacket but obviously your situation is much different than others with all that pressure around you.
It's a gift from the heavens.
So very glad it's working for you and that comment was so uplifting. Congrats and I also plan one day to turf the PV.
Happy Vaping.

Edit: Yes please keep us updated or if ya just wanna drop in and chat that's cool too.

It's been 6 days now and I'm doing pretty well. I guess I'm not nearly as heavy of a vaper as I thought I'd be. My standard 510 battery lasts me about 2 days and a tank lasts me about the same. I got a feeling these 5 30 mL bottles from AmericaneLiquid are going to last me a very long time. I would have gone through about 2-3 packs of cigarettes by now, and that would have set me back about $16 where I live. A 30 mL bottle costs me around $15 so you can see that this is going to save me an ...-ton of money.

So far I haven't craved an analog very much. I honestly think part of my cravings are due to the sociological aspects of my prior smoking lifestyle. It was, in a middle-schooler type of way, fun to sneak off for a cigarette. I actually miss that. Part of me wants to sneak off and have a real cigarette again. I guess I could sneak off for a vape, but its too easy. It doesn't smell, it doesn't take as long to get my fix, and I don't need an excuse to leave the house. It's like taking candy from a baby. So far I've stealth vaped in the car with my family with me (we were on a 9 hour car ride with a 4 year old and a 6 month old and if anything will drive a person to need a nicotine hit it's that!), I've stealth vaped in a grocery store, a toy store, and just about every public restroom I've been in.

Oh well, I guess I'll just get used to it. Still analog free!

I picked up the same kit from AmericanEliquids a while ago ... great people there and in Wisconsin no less. The only thing I ran into on the 510t atomizers was the failure percentage. If you run into this same problem (burnt taste, not hitting at all, etc.), try the Fluxomizer from Gotvapes ... Awesome product and I have yet to have one fail on me (6+ months)

So I tried an analog this morning just to see how it tasted and blech. It did not taste good. Like, at all. It was like licking an ashtray. I thought those Marlboro Smooth were smooth, but they aren't smooth. Not compared to my Menthol eLiquid.

I'm glad I've switched.

I haven't had any problems with my atomizer, but I may not be the best use case. I don't vape all that much right now. A 1.2 mL tank lasts me 2 days so this first bottle will last me about 2 months. Seeing as how a lot of people on here go through 3 mL a day, I'm guessing my atomizer's are going to last me longer than the would other people.

So far, I love my 510-T. I just ordered an auto battery so it'll be more like smoking an analog. I think that will help me get over the idea that I'm not smoking an analog. Something about pushing a button makes me thing I have a small hose that I'm sucking down nicotine from. I still crave the analog every now and then, although after this morning not as much.

This is probably more info than people want to know, but it helps me to type it out. Its like my support group.
