Let me first say hello to the forum. New to e-vapes, although i,ve had a blue and several other "Gas station" brands.
Been researching for a week or so now and i must say i'm lost and need some guidance.

1 Looking into getting an eGo or similar battery around 900mah. The model numbers seem different every site i go to. (ego-c, ego-c twist, ego twist, ego-t twist. Are all of these the same?

2. clearomizer. Too many options, now sure where to even start. Like the look of the kanger or ce4, but im lost again with all the different models.

Please help or point to a good page that has comparative reviews. Feel like i've gotten nowhere after a week of looking.

well the ego C and the ego T kits both come with an ego atomizer and tanks that u fill up and the needle tip on the tank pierces the tanks and makes the liquid drip into the atomizer. But you can put those attys and tanks to the side and use aftermarket clearomizers. If you can, just buy an ego kit that already comes with clearomizers instead of buying an eGo C or an eGo T kit. :p Kangers are great. All of them are. I like Kanger as a company and I support their products. I also like vivi novas and carto tanks if your down to replace the cartos. I personally use vivi novas because I can replace the heads and rebuild them myself. U can rebuild kanger heads too. Pretty cool/cheap. But the vape from a cartomizer tank is really nice. You'll have to try em all and figure out what yur willing to spend N do for the heads. GL on ur vape journey.

As far as the batteries go, there are many options. Most are exactly the same and others have minor differences. Take an eGo and an eGo twist. The eGo, is just a regular battery. The twist is basically the same battery but has a dial to adjust the voltage.

With clearomizers, some are top coil, some are bottom coil. They work on the same premise. A wick draws juice to the coil. However, top coils provide a warmer vape and bottom coil provides a cooler vape. Top coil sometimes has to be tilted and rolled when the juice gets low, where bottom coils do not.

I would recommend trying, at the very least, one top coil and one bottom coil to see which you prefer.

For the battery, a basic eGo style battery would be fine until you figure out what options you want. If you are the type that would rather spend more now and not have to upgrade later, a nice variable voltage/variable wattage such as the Vamo or iTaste SVD would be good.

This is what I recommend to new vapors. An eGo battery setup that has variable voltage capability, a charger, and two types of juice delivery devices. You don't have to use the variable voltage feature at first, but to save you from a likely need to upgrade to this feature in the near future, it doesn't cost that much more to get it right from the start.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3706-4-good-starters-setup-beginning-vapor.html

To help you decide which juice delivery devices to put on your batteries, I've put together the following picture dictionary of the more common ones:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html
___

You will need to purchase e-liquid juice with nicotine to add to these juice delivery devices. These come in hundreds of flavors. It is recommended to use 24mg of nicotine strength for a 1 ppd smoker; 32mg for 2 or more ppd.

Figure on consuming 3 - 5 ml of juice a day. Pick at least a few flavors in case you don't like the first one you try.

Ego twists are variable voltage and if your looking for something you can just fill and use without having to do much you can pass on them. They do give you more options for using different resistances but its really not needed if you don't want it. A regular ego battery like an ego c will work great I recommend only using 1.8ohm atomizers on them though since you can't adjust the voltage on a regular ego battery. But they will work just fine without having anything extra to do and will save you a bit of $$ since they are cheaper. Make sure to get 2 batteries atleast so you always have. One ready to go. Kanger evod would be the easiest to use and taste is quite good. Top coils like the ce4 and vivi nova is what I prefer since it gives a warmer vape but you have to tip them often to keep the wicks wet so you don't get a dry hit. The evods don't get dry hits very often since they self wick basically since they are bottom coil. As for battery size a regular ego would be good at 900 - 1100 mah range.

Hello Knox!
I'm going to second that kit that The Ocelot linked, especially if you have any gadget tendencies.
My wife and I are about 5 weeks in. We both started with ego 650 batteries and CE4 clearomizers. My wife is still perfectly happy with that combo, but I'm looking for more. I just bought a variable voltage battery (similar to the one in the link above) and am beginning to like the added performance / options it gives me. (FYI, Higher voltage usually means a warmer vape, and can really change the way things taste)

IMO, The most important thing is to get your foot in the door. I read for a few weeks and still didn't know what to do. I finally stopped by a local store and let them explain it all, and was able to pick up the different models and really see what it was all about. The basic kit got me going and gave me the inspiration I needed to make it work. The first four weeks gave me the time I needed to wrap my head around it all and begin to make more informed decisions. Buying VV batteries would have kept me happy longer, but they won't be the last stop either.

If you buy the kit shown above, I'd also recommend you pick up another 2 or so CE4s in case you want to have several juice options, and to make sure you have a backup if the original breaks. Our starter kits each had 5 clearos. All 10 are currently full and in use :)

As far as the nic levels are concerned, my wife and I were both one PAD smokers and have been pretty happy with 18mg ejuice. Occasionally I'd like something with a little more oomph, but that's rare and passes pretty quickly. I am also getting some 12mg for those times when I'm chain vaping.

Good luck, and happy vaping!

Wow, this was not the response I was expecting. Working in IT, i'm used to posting and a week later you have 1000 views and no comments. Thanks guys.

What is the difference between ego and ego C. Are the batteries the same just the suffix letter mean the kit it come in. Et. T=Tank C=Cart.?

And what kind of replacement parts should i expect to get right off the bat?

Hi an eGo is a style of battery:

egolatest.jpg

I highly(!) recommend you pay a bit more and get the name brand, which is Joyetech. An eGo Twist is an eGo with a variable voltage feature. The Vision (name brand) Spinner is very similar to a Twist. Each one of these devices have their fans.

Variable Voltage allows the user to increase or decrease the amount of power (watts) used by the heating element to vaporize the liquid; this affects temperature, throat hit and taste. Some juice may taste burnt at high levels, while others may seem less flavorful at low levels. It can also affect the amount of vapor produced, although the pg/vg ratio of a juice can be more important.

With "VV" devices like the Twist and Spinner you manually set the voltage level (input) based on the resistance (ohms) of the delivery device to produce the desired out put level of power (watts).

The kit I linked to on the prior page comes with the option of two "clearomizers" (it says "cartomizers" on the page, but someone wasn't paying attention). The choices are okay, but not great. I always recommend new vapers get as many different kinds of "delivery systems" as they can afford, since a big part of vaping is trial and error to find out what works best for you. A delivery system is the thing that screws onto the battery. It holds the juice and delivers it to the heating element to be vaporized.

I'm not sure how up to date this is (a new hot toy seems to come out every week), but it has a good basic overview: Baditude’s Blog: Is it a carto? atty? clearo?

I love the ego series and have a few. I would suggest getting a battery with the "passthrough" option, which allows you to charge from either end, one end being where you can charge it while you vape with any USB plug in. So car, laptop, etc. Always ALWAYS get back ups as you dont want to be in a situation where you cannot vape (ive seen it so many times on here). I have 4 batteries, so one is always ready and charged. Then you can dive into juices, which is the fun part in my opinion. I suggest getting the ego batteries and the vivi nova tanks. Perfection for me.

This is currently one of the hot toys. It's very similar to the EVOD (which is less expensive and some people prefer), but has the advance of being made of glass so you don't have to be concerned about what kind of juice you are using in it. The price is a little high on this site, but not too bad; the advantage is that it is the same vendor and if you kick the price for the kit up a few bucks the shipping is free.

ego twist is great but make sure it is a joyetech ego-c twist theres a junky one out there that says ego twist but its not a joyetech. has mvs on bottom of battery. better yet is the vision spinner 1300 mah is hard to drain in 1 day. I can drain the life out of a 900 mah in 2-3 hours. before you get into all the bells and whistles like i did and regret I can say you don't need it or 6v to make clouds . Alpha 3.7 , omega. and silver bullet 100% mechanical at 3.7 v with a LR atty or single coil cart with the right juice can be awesome. i have spent lots for bells and whistles but reach for my alpha more than any of em.

Sorry I went off a little rant and didn't answer your question (I have a tendency to do that). An eGo battery is the same (except when you get into VV), the "T" and "C" refer to the delivery systems that come with the kits. The "T" is a tank, as it holds liquid, but is not what members are generally referring to when they say tanks. The "C" is a changeable atomizer system. Both of these designs are pretty outdated.

You didn't say what your budget is, but this kit appears to currently be the best bang for your buck. You just need to add juice, although I would also recommend getting a couple of other delivery systems:

http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm

Ocelot is giving great advice, I have been vaping for one month and after much research I was ready to set my hair on fire. I went with the Ego C Twist 1000mah and I highly recommend it, I currently use a Viva Nova and a Kanger T2, both are great. It really gets easier once you get your first kit. For juice, I started at 24mg and now go back and forth between 24mg and 18mg. Remember to drink lots of water once you start vaping. Please don't get discouraged. Oh, I almost forgot, get backups, once you start vaping you won't want to go back.

Unfortunately the atomizers and the batteries that i was going to get to start with are not in stock(900mah twist and vision atom), Should i wait or use a different site. Not sure how long it usually takes to get these kinds of things back in stock.

The kit is very popular right now, but they seem to be getting stock in pretty fast.

ETA: Are you saying the Vision clearo is OOS as a choice. Honestly, that is the worst one they offer.
