Relatively new to vaping but I have found that I prefer cartomizers, Boge LR 510, xpress 510. My major issue is with these carts is my favorite flavor juices destroy them with a terrible ashy taste after very few refills. I love Vaperite RY4 and VR4, Backwoods Hazelnut Tob. Through searches I've done on this site it seems it could be the naturally extracted tobaccos that are the culprit. I can't afford to throw away 3 carts a day but I would still like to vape flavors that I like. I tried the Titan tank system but get no flavor or throat hit. Dripping to me is a terrible pain. I guess my question is, is there another cartomizer like system I should be trying or do I have to try and find lesser juices to use as an all day vape.

First, make sure when you are refilling that you allow time for the juice to get down to the bottom of the carto. If the juices do have particulates in the juice, that will clog a carto, but it will an atty also. You can try blowing out your carto (from the battery connection end) into a tissue before you refill.

Also, here is an atty that people put in their tanks...IKV io6 LR Atomizer 1.8. Because it has the sleeve on the atty, you can use it like you would a carto. You can go to the Ikenvape forum to see how it is done.

I agree with player30 on the filling trick....

I'd add that if you get any burnt or ashy taste then the internals of the cartomizer have been burnt and there is nothing you can do about that one - throw it out. To prevent that, a few things - you have to keep the carto filler thoroughly wet to prevent burning (although my experience has been that all filler cartos eventually burn). The best fill either with a syringe so you can moisten the area by the coil and then fill upwards or fiill downwards and keep filling until you're close to flooding. And then, refill at the first sign of loss of flavor... because what is happening is that the ejuice around the coil is being used up and the filler isn't wicking fast enough to keep that area wet ... and... you will then burn the 'sock' around the coil and eventually the filler itself.

The other 'solutions' are getting cartos without fillers - CE2's or using a MAP tank - basically a carto surrounded by a tank that holds ejuice so the carto is always wet. When the tank runs dry the carto still has some ejuice in it but time to refill.

Regular filled cartos were intended to be 'disposable'. People here have found ways to make them last longer but eventually you have to pitch them. I've found that getting a week from one is doing pretty good - there are exceptions - the EMDCC ego style seem to last longer but again you have to keep them wet to near flooding. I've found that the non-filller CE2's do well in the standard length and have a problem wicking in the XL length but that's just my personal experience. Hope that helps.
