Seems like they would be overkill and just waste liquid really...

We already know that the Iolite will work, so actually there is a good chance that others will too. My point is that a lot of good things come out of information from people who try different things.

God knows that those big, clunky things are sure built a LOT more solid than an e-cig.

(edit) This thread is a good example: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/62775-wizard-why-not.html

I have seen that and it looks cool. What I was meaning with the added heat it seems it would just waste juice. As I saw it when i watched a video review of it its not an on off type, you have to wait for it to heat up. I think this would be a draw back when using liquid, unless you are a chain vaper, and it seems like it would use more liquid. I agree good things come from people who try alot of different things, was just stating my opinion on them as I see it. Don't get me wrong I would love to have one for its intended purpose;) but I also have never had luck with butane. Lighter would rarely work after the first refill. Made me mad cause i had some awesome designs. I would love to see something like this with a good battery.

Yeah - I understand that many of these devices would probably not work. I was just pointing out the fact that there are a LOT of alternatives and the only way we find out about them is by having posts here to refer to.

I appreciate the failures as much as the triumphs - the failures save us as much money as the triumphs.

At this point, the posts about alternative vaporizers are kinda spread out, due to the fact that there doesn't seem to be "a place" to put them.

Since herbal vaporizers are specifically designed to vaporize herbs (at a much higher temp than PVs), their use with e-juice would be, by definition, a custom mod. In that respect, they already belong in the modding forum. I could maybe see an argument for a dedicated subforum in the mod section, but is there really enough potential interest/discussion for that to be necessary?

I don't personally see the need for more than a few threads on these devices, but I'm certainly not an expert, and my opinion doesn't count for much anyway. :)

It's a hard sell. On the whole e-cig users are unwilling to consider such a different way to create vapor. It's so surprising when you think of the transition made from smoking.

I don't get the lack of interest, the devices are on the whole western made, fully tested, fully legal everywhere and we know exactly what is in the vapor they produce with tobacco or molasses. Eliquid works in some of them.

They are not mods. Mods are not well established vaporizers already available to the mass market. But neither are they ecigs and this is the e-cigarette forum. There is already a forum 'Other Alternatives to smoking' so I say thats where such threads belong :)

If you PM me I can give you the name of a Member you can PM to direct you to other sites where this subject is dealt with more fully.

We can't get into all that because there is a strong tendency for the discussion to go toward the vaping of substances that are not legal in many jurisdictions. Because we are the responsible, global voice of ecigarette use we can't go there, and such references are moderated out immediately.

This is not a moral judgement, it's simply a site direction issue - ECF policy is to avoid contentious areas like this, and it is not our core subject.
