I would recommend the lt1085 regulator, from liner tech, it is a cool running lil beast, that is in my Altoids can.. Btw awesome job on them emus... You are a credit to the modding community ..

Peppermint, wintergreen and spearmint are the ones i have in my area. I usually tell the wife to grab me a few cans while shes at the store. Lids come off and are interchangeable so depends on what color i'm in the mood for

Alright, have to jump in while there's an active thread on Altoids mods. I've been using the gum tins for 18650 and stacked/regulated 16340 mods for a while now (if you cut the bottom out of one and close it up with the lid from a second tin it gives you the depth you need to fit those batts in there), but they never seem to last longer than a month or so. Always used the free regs or boosters from TI and a 3-5 amp switch (replacing a switch now & then doesn't bother me). Did I go wrong by not including a MOSFET or resistor or is there something else I'm missing? Like, what is this fuse you speak of..? ;b

Great idea nyx; perhaps dual cover mod could be used so 18350 would fit the mini tin.
I use automobile fuse to protect against short circuit. You can see fuse in photo. Purple fuse in 3.7v. Glass fuse in VVPV.
I don't follow why yours only lasting a month? switch issue? Mine have been trouble free so far.

Never took the time to figure it out, honestly. I used to be horrible about slathering epoxy everywhere once I knew a build worked, which made tinkering with them after the fact a pain, and if swapping out the switch didn't work I just made a new one altogether (think I found 12 old gutted ones when I cleaned up to move a few months ago). Now that I've actually thought about it, it probably just had to do with sloppy soldering/craftsmanship. It took a good long while for some of the most basic do's & don'ts I learned in that electronics class 15 years ago to come back to me. Heh. Seeing these, though, I may have to rebuild one of those carcasses sitting out in the mod box and make a proper one now that my builds are actually lasting until I get bored with them.

Don't think it'd make Altoids company very happy.
Hmm, not sure if they could say anything. We buy the Altoids from them and reuse the tin. It's not like were fabricating new tins and slapping Altoids on it.
