Question. At what point can I stop blaming my farts on the dog? 65, 70? You have a dozen years on me, but I'd like to own my own. (One of the downsides of vaping at my age is the "return" of my sense of smell, if you know what I mean?)

Not quite as old as you but I did smoke a pipe and cigars for over 50 years so I can relate to your excellent story....burnt the pockets out of at least 3 coats by putting a still lit pipe in them!

One thing I noticed right away was that the folks that were posting in the e-cig forums were being belittled by the no smoking converts from the Church of The Gooey Death and I Quit Smoking Prayer Group . And then one morning it was just gone. That forum was removed by the admin stating that e-cigs were not an alternative they supported.

I'm pretty sure I know exactly which forum you are talking about.
I was a regular there for almost a year, fighting for our right to be heard.

But they are brainwashed beyond repair.
And now they've shut us down entirely.

We are a threat to their mantra, and their view of the Nicodemon.

I take solace in the fact that they will eventually dry up and blow away.
If for no other reason than they are wrong, about nearly everything they preach.

it maybe take some time, but it will happen.
I'm just glad your found your way out.
