Hi All!,

Yesterday was my last follow up after quitting tobacco last May 22, 2014. When the Doctor asked me how I was doing, 'I told him no tobacco since May 22', then handed him one of my e-pipes.(Oh yes, ONE of my e-pipes) He jumped up, gave this cranky old man a great big hug and said, "Well Reverend Dickie, that's perfect for you. You are now one of my non-smokers! Too many Doctors have the wrong science on that." I had not been looking forward to seeing him after reading some of the posts here about some Doctors reactions to vaping. And now my bride of 53 years feels better about it too. She was pretty disappointed when I let the Nicotine Monster back in. But, the Alcohol Monster will continue to not be invited. We kicked him out in 1977. Got myself a new Harley for that one and we still have one!

Still Cranky and still vaping!

Gratz man. It's great to hear from vapers who get commendations from their doctors (and s/o's) for quitting the nasties and picking up the PV. And also congratz on ~40 years sober! That's a feat and a half, you've got determination out the ears!

Keep up the great work Reverend.

This, coming from a Doctor, is awesome...! It's a good thing to know that not all of them are blinded by ideology.

And congratulations to you !! :)

to ecf Reverend Dickie. So glad you are here. Great intro and I look forward to reading more about you. Just make yourself at home. I love to read "feel good" stories about vaping. Glad you have the kind of doctor you do. Continued success and happy vaping to you.

That is awesome news! I recently went to the doctor for increased heart rate (most likely caused by one of my bipolar meds) and when the doctor asked me if I smoked I said, "No, but I vape." She proceeded typing and said, "Okay, non-smoker." Lovely to hear a health professional refer to vaping as NON-SMOKING. She did, however, warn me that nicotine can increase one's heart rate but didn't think that was the issue at the level (6 mg) that I am at.

My doctor felt it was necessary to advise me that vaping hasn't been proven safe but, at least, admitted that it HAS to be safer than smoking cigarettes. I believe that he considered my lack of wheezing a great improvement though.

Lack of wheezing is ALWAYS a good thing. I recently had a chest x-ray and it was clear and great - my doctor said my lungs sounded healthy and my dentist said my gums may be salvageable now that I am not smoking so I consider this a positive. I don't know what the long term dangers are, but yes, they have got to be safer than coffin nails produced by BIG TOBACCO.s
