Am I all set? (Battieres, chargers, and voltage checkers...)

I'm looking to get decent equipment to prevent me from battery failure, as well as a mod that will last a while. So far, my list is...

hcigar Nemesis Clone
Nitecore Intellicharger I2
AW IMR 18650 battery x2
Inline volt checker

Good, inexpensive setup. Question is, am I exercising enough safety? I have researched and came to the conclusion the AW IMR's are the safest, the nemesis has good ventilation (I also have a fuse), and that the Nitecore won't overcharge my battery. The only thing I am confused about is the inline volt checker. If my understanding is correct, I plug it into my mod and it measures the voltage of the battery? Because I cannot afford the xtar VP1, I need something that can check the voltage throughout the day, off the charger, etc, because I am still new to mech vaping and do not quite know when to charge, and when not to charge.

You can buy the inline voltmeter if you want, or you can buy a good Digital Multimeter which will allow you to check the resistance of your coils and troubleshoot if you have any shorts anywhere in your setup which is another added safety precaution you should always do before firing your mod. If you make sure you have no shorts and have an understanding of how many amps your battery can safely handle/how many amps you are drawing from your battery using an Ohm's Law Calculator, you will be safe to vape your head off...

Just gonna throw it out there that the Sony VTC5s are also a good option in the battery department to consider instead of the AW IMR batteries because they have the highest continuous discharge rating of 30 amps and they are rated at 2600mah. So not only do you get the safety of running a super low ohm coil if you choose to do so, you get excellent battery life between charges.

Other then that it sounds like you are pretty good to go.

P.S.- When you get your Nemesis make sure you disassemble the tubes of the body, the switch assembly, and the 510 connection in the top cap and clean off everything with some isopropyl alcohol on a cloth (I use microfiber cloth) to get any machining oils/slivers of metal off so it will perform better. Make sure you get the threads nice and clean as well and you will be a happy camper. You may not see it at first but after cleaning, you may be surprised at how much gunk you clean off...

A multimeter is an invaluable tool for any vaper, but you'll get a lot of use of out a pocket voltmeter too. I bring mine to work and when I feel like my battery is running low, I check the voltage and I change batteries when they go below 3.7v. You can measure the voltage of the battery by attaching the inline voltmeter to your mod. You can subsequently measure the voltage under load by then attaching an atomizer to the inline voltmeter.

If you're looking for additional safety, I would recommend a mechanical fuse. It fits great in the Nemesis if you use the Kick/beauty ring and will help protect you from shorts.

Thanks for the incredibly informative response. I just am now a bit confused. If I have my coils between 1.5-2.5, would a standard efest imr 18650 be able to handle the amp draw from my kamry k100 and nemesis? The ohms law calculator may be throwing me off. All I can tell is they're 3.7v and 10cr.

Okay, I think I got it lol. God, I feel so stupid! Never was good with math, or numbers...

Resistance of coil - 2.8 (my 2.5 are a little high)
Voltage of battery 4.2 (off charger)

Current would equal 1.5 amps. So, if my battery (Now an eFest IMR 18650) is rated at 10 amps, pulling 1.5 is surely safe for a nemesis and other (non vv/vw) mods?

Now a 1.5 resistance coil, using a 4.2v battery off the charger pulls 2.8 I, or amps. Getting down to 3.7v (near charge) it pulls 2.4 amps. SO, if I go SUB-OHM, a .5coil on a 4.2 battery draws 8 amps. This is where we get into the dangerous, greyish areas.

Somebody please check my knowledge, I am out of my realm here.

now you are with it...8.4 amps on the .5 coil on a fresh battery... i always recommend the sony vct5's to anyone building coils . i just like having lots of headroom when it comes to safety. a few cents or even dollars difference is worth the peace of mind IMO. best of luck.

But I do not plan on cloud chasing, (I am more interested in flavor) so if/when I go RBA, I will be wrapping at 1.4/1.5 ohms. So with this, knowing that I am only ever pulling up to 2.8 amps from a 10 amp battery, the risks are relatively low, even without a fuse/kick, right? So I should be fine with ANY decent charger, IWR battery, etc. Right?

Now I'm considering an Hcigar hammer.... they're compatible with 18650, right? I believe it includes an extension tube. I've read that it suffers from voltage drop. Sigh. So much stuff to buy.

I agree completely with everyone about the sony's, however, the efest you already have and the amr's should be ok for what you are wanting. As far as I'm concerned the fuse defeats the purpose, but, that is your choice. If you use other rechargable batteries ie. aa, aaa, etc. I would recommend http://101vape.com/batteries-chargers/142-nitecore-intellicharger-i4.html if budget allows. Would also recommend you have at least 3 devices and batteries, even if a simple ego or a "cigalike" is one of them(backup for the backup ensures you never smoke again!)Also, use a multi-meter to insure your batteries aren't overcharged/discharged.
