Am I allergic to PG? Or just too much nic?

So, lately whenever I vape my heart rate raises a bit. And i'm starting to get real itchy on my hands and such. I don't see this being a PG issue, since these are just now developing symptoms and i've always vaped on 50/50 blends. And I know it can't be a silica allergy because i've used silica so much before now. I don't even chain vape, or vape a lot for that matter, maybe once every 10-15 minutes. I'm using 12mg nic, just moving down from 18 and will be going to 0 in a few days. Just want to assess what could be going on here.

From what I've read & understand it could be either of those things or something totally unrelated all together. Are you drinking enough water? If so you may want to try vaping higher vg or all vg & see if it makes a difference for you. If that doesn't help I totally suggest making a visit to your doctor just to be safe...especially for the heart rate issue.

Hope whatever it is gets better for you soon.

Well, nicotine use can increase your heart rate, as well as a whole slew of emotional states (excited, anger, etc), so that part is probably nothing to worry about.

As for the itchyness, is it just an itch, or are there any other symptoms? Blisters? Welts? I think we need a little more to go on.

But we're also not doctors, you might want to pay an allergist or a dermatologist a visit.

Hope you figure it out. :vapor:

Just an itch, and mainly on my hands. It goes away after a little.

Could I be allergic to VG? Since I vape 50/50, it COULD be either right? I just don't want to dump more money on 100% VG and 100% pg liquid. It'd be easier to blame it on one or the other, so I could just go buy a 100ml bottle of Gorilla Juice and be done with worrying. Or could it really be a Nicotine allergy? I hadn't smoked for years, and picked up vaping on an impulse buy a few months ago, now being a hobby for me. Just want to get as much info as I can.

based on the itchiness it could be an allergic reaction. Itchiness &/or rash is usually a big sign of allergy to something. This is obviously not always the case though as it could just be weather or some irritation. If you notice an increase in the itchiness or see any kind of rash developing then it's definitely an allergy, but you will then have to figure out which thing you're allergic to.

You can develop an allergy to something you were previously not allergic to.

Since you did not smoke prior to vaping, I would say based on my experience that this is a nic reaction.
I've gotten myself down to .6 nic and am ok. But get itchy, hyper, and increased heart rate when vaping 1.8.
That would be 6 mg and 18mg...
So try 0 nic liquid and see if you still get the symptoms. If not then you know to stay away from nic.

Usually it would happen in the mouth area if it were from nic.

Some people are even affected by less nic rather than more. I would consult a professional as it could also be a food alergy triggered by a flavor in your juice. It wont cost much to visit a quick care if one is near you.

From my reading the most popular allergy is to PV. Some to the flavors as a 2nd. None to VG. You Being a previous non-smoker I don't know about the nic. Most of us here are previous smokers. The only way to really find out is by trial and error.

I had allergies when starting. I went to 100% VG, then added a flavor....so on so forth. My reactions was that I broke out in hives, mostly about the neck and arms. Good luck.

It could be one or both ... I am sensitive to high PG content juice, and cannot vape it at a ratio of more than 50%, otherwise here comes the headaches, and dizziness. I have experienced an accelerated heart rate with vaping too much nicotine as well. The process of elimination is the only way you can know for sure which of these is creating the issue.
