I can completely relate to preferring a small and simple tank. I've only used a few toppers so far in my vaping career, but the one I really love the most for flavor, throat hit, vapor production and a complete lack of any problems is the Kanger T2. I've only used the Halo Triton tanks so far, which practically
are Kanger T2's. I've got a couple of actual T2's coming early next week, as well, to run on the eGo-V V3 battery I've got coming as well.
It's really weird, though, because I prefer a cool vape with my menthol/mint flavors. Halo Menthol ICE, Mystic, SubZero, MBV Black Ice, etc. You'd therefore think a top coil wouldn't be preferable for me. But with a low resistance coil (1.8-1.9Ω) and a low voltage (3.2-3.6v), it gives me just what I like. And the vape is quite cool with those settings, even with a tank that puts its coil practically in my mouth when I vape with it.
I love the plastic mouthpiece instead of a metal one. Metal's just too cold for my tastes. I'll try plastic, acrylic, or even lacquered wood drip tips for the higher end tanks when I start going that route, I'm sure. 2.4mL of juice is fine for the amount I vape each day - about 4.0mL. Two full tanks last me all day with some to spare.
The airflow is just right to me. Two holes that look to be 0.9mm or so, just above the threading. It wastes a bit of juice whenever I have to take the top piece off to replace a coil or refill the tank, having to soak up the bit of juice that's on the inside of the mouthpiece to prevent getting any in the center tube. Maybe 0.05mL each time. Maybe less. The polycarbonate tank material is fine for me, as I don't vape any tank crackers. No cinnamons, no high-level citrus, and so on. Just simple menthols, mints and a few basic fruit flavorings.
I've never had flooding, never had clogging, never had even a single dry hit, even when the T2 gets pretty darn low on juice (between 0.2 and 0.4mL). I can chain it pretty fast without it ever overheating, too, which blows my mind. It's how I like to vape. I'll do 5 or 6 good, long hits in a row; get a good cloud going around me, then put it down for a few minutes (5-10), then do it again.
Those fat, long silica wicks in the T2 that I'm sure many people hate, I love. It comes with "medium" wicks optionally, which are really short in my opinion. I like the ones that go right to the bottom of the tank. When installing or re-installing a coil (after cleaning, for instance), I have to use a straightened paper clip to get the wicks all in line and "behaving" in the tank. And when the wicks get all ratty, there's nothing that can be done except to toss out the coil and start a new one, because you'll never keep all the strands out of the screw threads, which would cause a leaky mess. I should really just get some 1.5mm or 2mm silica wick material to deal with that problem without having to waste a coil that might have a week more of life left in it.
It's strange, I know, but the Kanger T2 is what I've come to love. I'm sure something else will dethrone it as my favorite e-juice vapor delivery system. Maybe an Aspire Nautilus, maybe a Russian 91%, ...
But until then, my little imperfect but great-for-me $4.59 tank gives me my vapor just the way I like it.
