Either I'm doing it wrong, or I just picked a bad brand. Maybe you guys can help me out? I bought the E8 from ........... (not sure if I'm allowed to post the link here). Anyway, after I take 3-4 drags, the .... gets really really hot and I have to stop for a minute or two or it'll burn my lips. Also, after taking a few drags, some of the liquid came out. It didn't taste gross or anything, it just kinda shocked me. Is that normal?
Am I doing it wrong?

well the E8 isnt a bad brand but not along the favs of most the people on here. the liquid came out because it was either over filled or i supposed you could have takin took fast of a drag, the best way to take a drag is nice slow and long, give that a shot, hopfully it will help with both the too hot end and the juice coming out, hope you have better luck!-)
Well, it's nice to know I just have a "stinky" one, 'cause if I can only take 4 drags at a time, then vaping isn't for me, lol. I had a hard enough time convincing my husband to let me buy one of the lesser expensive ones, wish me luck getting him to let me buy another.

not sure how much you spent but liberty-flights(dot)com has a riva kit for around 30$ after you click on the 20% discount in the top left corner....2 big bats9(ast 8-12hours) 2 attys and 5 carts....a killer deal and shipping is like 3$, take a look and hope you can persuade him!-)
Ok, so I'm REALLY new to all of this, and I just checked out that site and my head about exploded. Are there any links for dummies that can explain how those work? One of the things that I liked about the E8 that I bought was the simplicity of it. I screw on the .... and start inhaling. After looking at the Riva, it seems as though there are a lot of parts and talk about empty cartriges that need to be filled, etc....... Eek!
That is one of the "bottom feeder" models. The suggestion of the Riva 510 from Liberty Flights was a good one. Make sure you get "manual" batteries only. Stay clear of the auto batteries like the one you have. Get some blank carts or cartomizers and some eliquid (24mg strength is a good starter level) to go along with it.
And it will take you all of about 30 minutes to figure the basics out, plus you always can come on here and ask questions. The manual batteries give you better control and better simulate the feel of smoking. You press the button a second before you inhale and then keep pressing it as you inhale (into the mouth and then into the lungs). The eliquid tastes much better than prefilled carts and costs a good deal less.

This is extremely simple.
Order the Riva kit and a box or two of blank cartomizers (the same thing you already have expect these are empty). You pop off the plastic end cap and drip juice into the carto. That's about it.
Ok, just one more question......or two, lol. What's the difference between the PG and the VG liquids? Also, do I need to buy anything special to fill the cartriges, or do I just drip the liquid in there? When I was looking around I found videos of people using syringes to fill them.
Cartos can get hot if somewhat low resistance for the battery (desired by many) and especially if dragged long. IMO the model may be too weak for you and may not put out enough vapor fast enough to satisfy you. And it's like the super-mini of carto units, a Chinese wholesaler model sold by ripoff rebranders at a higher price. The kind of ecig most people will get annoyed with within a month.
Get a decent supported 2-piece model if you want 2-piece. If you have a hot carto you can put a plastic or delrin drip tip on it as a mouth piece. Look at KR808D-1 aka Vapor4Life in colors (and most prefilled cartos are there - nice soft-cap ones you can add juice to and keep using for days). I recommend a plastic or delrin drip tip - not to drip in - just as a mouthpiece if you want to take big drags and it's a hot carto - LiteCigUSA.net has both delrin and plastic 510/901/KR808D-1 ones and their shipping is cheap. Both Vapor4Life and LiteCigUSA have blank soft-cap cartos. (at LiteCig see the standard resistance - not LR which are for fat battery models - Premium KR808D-1 cartomizers)
That is your absolute bet for prefilled cartos on a well-supported model in the normal-price marketplace.

PG - thin, lets through the most of nicotine's harshness and TH, the most flavor, has less vapor
VG - thick, smooths the harshness and TH, dulls the flavor a bit, has more visible persistent vapor
I vape neither 100% PG nor 100% VG (except my first bottle I bought with my kit was 100% PG). It's usually Dekang juice from China. I prefer blends. I like anything within 10% of 70pg/30vg which is a popular ratio. A few juices I have are smoother and 50/50.
If you get a Riva 510 instead, most cartos will be blanks. It will come by default with atty and carts. You can buy and use cartos on it - you may need to remove the cone or use a 510 extender to get the carto to stick above the cone. There are fewer prefilled cartos for 510 threading but probably a larger variety of blanks. And Riva can use both the cooler standard resistance blanks and the hotter low resistance ones for 510. To use prefilled KR808D-1 cartomizer like the Vapor4Life ones, you would need a 510 to 808 adapter.

With the boge cartomizers you don't need a syringe.
If you like the kit you already have, just want something better and a little longer lasting V4L has two piece kits with pre-filled carts. They are more expensive though. If you sign up for their newsletter they have tons of sales. I got a kit for 30% off. I'd recommend manual batteries and xl batteries.
