Am I doing something wrong?

I sampled my flavors Tuesday night on my G6 & mini tanks but yesterday was my first day vaping all day. I really liked Menthol Ice, Mystic & Kringle's Curse. I had these three flavors in my Triton Tanks and was happily vaping them all evening. This morning they are all tasting kind of soapy to me. What am I doing wrong? I stored the 3 tanks off the batteries by standing them up. The juice was fine yesterday but now the same juice is soapy tasting. I have been drinking more water too. I just am not sure what I'm doing wrong or is this just part of me adjusting to vaping and suffer through it?

I've noticed that certain flavors taste a little different when there's only about 0.4 ml left in the tank. I just shake the bottle for about a minute, re-fill it, and let it rest for a couple of minutes. After that, the original flavor is back as long as the tank and coils are not too gunked up. Everyone's tastes are personal, but I don't like mine to drop below the 0.8 mark.

Of course, someone else may have a different experience and tell you that I am crazy. :)

Could just be your taste buds. I've noticed juice can taste different at different times of the day. I got stuck out in the country for a week (just got back tonight) and all I had with me was a protank and a bottle of orange flavored juice. I thought for a while that my head needed replacing because I couldn't taste the juice at all after a while, but then after doing some work and eating and whatever I came back to it and it tasted marvelous. Could be your just waking up with funky mouth and that's why the juice tastes off.

I don't think anyone would dare to call Walter "I am the Danger" White, crazy! ;)

Juice doesn't settle. You might be able to bring out more flavor by shaking, but that'd just mean your bottle isn't fully steeped yet.

How you inhale and exhale has a lot to do with it. Out the nose gets you more flavor (do that long enough, and you'll bring a Kleenex everywhere you go).

If you inhale the vapor fully, some of the flavor will be lost, but if you don't inhale at all, you'll get that cough medicine (soapy?) taste common to all Halo juices (not everyone gets this, some just can't avoid inhaling).

It's a fine balance you develop, getting started.

Well it is just my 2nd day of vaping and my first time using tanks.

When I vaped 2+ years ago I only used cartomizers and I would refill them with fresh juice a couple of times a day. And it could be me and my tastebuds. My mouth is extremely dry! I've drank water some today. I think I will try gatorade some tomorrow and up my water level just to be sure if it is me.

I know it isn't the juice, I used Halo juice the last time and I never remember getting any strange taste off of their juice. I can remember when I first started back 2 years ago. I vaped my first carto dry and it only took me the one time vaping that taste to learn to top off my cartos BEFORE they get empty. LOL

I may have to not FILL my tank up until I get more of a feel for it and my vaping style. I guess their is a little learning curve to using tanks, even though they are easier. I love all the new developments that have been made since that first time.

Thanks Ben I'll try to notice how I'm inhaling tomorrow and narrow down what I'm doing.

OK, let's look at this. Is it possible that overnight, somehow, these liquids morphed? Not one, not two, but all of them? Did you try the mini tanks? Do they also taste soapy. I will bet they do. And is it possible, with all the advice here in the forum, we forgot to tell you something?

Welcome to vaper's tongue! You gave the answer yourself, "but yesterday was my first day vaping all day." The flavors you vaped all day aren't subtle like Cafe Mocha. Menthol Ice, Mystic & Kringle's Curse are in your face strongly flavored. You have just put your taste buds through something they ain't been through before.

Relax. Drink water, and eat something. Vape when you get the urge, the crave, then put it down for a while. Really, just put it down. Go back to it when you crave it. It's so different frome smoking, which does give you clues you are smoking too much. The emptying pack, the multiple trips outside, or the full ashtray.

But vaping doesn't let you know. With filling tanks and switching around, along with your newness of it all, it's hard to judge. I found myself vaping like mad the first week, and mondo crazy when I got the Triton!!

Read about it in Health effects of vaping and quitting smoking

It'll all change again, and maybe change several more times. I think I'm over my 3rd Vaper's tongue.

In short, no, Evie, it's nothing you are doing wrong to the juice. Except lovin it a little too much!!!!

Loving it a little too much, that's for sure!!! I really am excited about these tanks!! Okay I'm gonna up my water alot more, relax a bit, climb back up that cliff and ease my way down this time.

Thanks Dave

I'll check in with you tomorrow and let you know how it's going and get more advice. Oh and maybe I'll see you some at the game tomorrow. Probably not much because Fridays are alot busier than Thursdays and I didn't get to post alot today. I did read it all this evening very funny and it moved so fast today.

Sound advice all the way around.

But -- Egads! That's a lot of menthol/mint!!!!

Try to change up the routine a bit more if you have different flavors. Vaping similar flavors all day, or the same single one, and you'r mind and tongue get bored and will refuse to work. Take a break. Chew some gum (try something other than mint if menthol is all you're vaping), drink something flavorful or citrus-y.

I started with T56 and Turkish -- something slightly sweet, something a little spicy. And I've never had vaper's tongue. I've always rotated my flavors.

But lots of good advice here.

First, I'm not sure I would describe Café Mocha as "subtle," but I digress. . .

Second, I wanted to add to the list of signs your smoking to much--coughing so much you sound like a cat trying to release a fur ball. Sorry, digressed again. . .

Vapers tongue happens to just about everyone. Not long after I started vaping I went through a three day period where everything tasted awful. I spent a lot of time using different approaches to clean my tanks (unscented denture cleaner is my favorite, btw). It eventually does go away, and staying hydrated is important.

I have two tips--lemon helped me to kind of clean my tongue. I actually just open a packet of TruLemon and dump it right on my tongue (but mainly because lemons can be hard to find in Puerto Rico--it's all about limes here). I've heard many people do the same thing with vinegar. If all else fails, when the taste buds aren't cooperating, it's a great time to vape those liquids you don't like! I don't throw them out (and I have quite a collection of bad juice), I'm just saving them for a day when I can't fully taste their crappiness!
