Thinking of building a dual around 0.6 ohm(i have 26 gauge kanthal) 10 wraps around a 1/8 drill bit... I got inspiration from this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iWdivJ3p-s) figured it might be a good starting point. (I like the room to wick too should be easier)

Am I right here? Having 2 coils you have the 4 legs and one leg from each coil goes in the center post(positive)and then the other two legs are fed into the outer posts(negative)?? really new to rba decks and duals just want to know the basics...

Roughly how long should each leg be also? I have some labo cotton squares ill use to wick, was told to keep the cotton out of the juice channels(especially if you have high VG, which I do)

Finally, with the japanese cotton squares is it best to not twist it or compress it at all with fingers? just try and cut out exactly what you need and leave it alone?

any help here would be greatly appreciated!!!

Make sure you snip the correct wire before the timer gets down to zero. Easy after that. (j/k)

I would stay with a single coil at first. Just for the week to get your routine settled. IMHO

Inner diameter of the coil, numbers of wraps, length of legs are the variables. For the length of the legs, I I go directly from the coil to the screw. At least its the same every time.

I just practiced on the same size mandrel (drill bit) with the same gauge wire. Then recorded the ohms it produced.

A bit of trial and error and learning.

Thanks FrenchFry but if i do just a single coil I have to plug one of the airholes. Seems sort of counterintuitive to me. I understand that the coils are run in parallel so whatever their total it is going to be halved. I think that at least wicking should be a breeze compared to trying to wick kangerheads... I been struggling a bit rebuilding the protank coils and I think its mainly the wicking.... so small when wrapping with 16 gauge or 20 gauge needle. Best not to twist the japanese cotton though? Just leave it as is after cutting the piece?

Also is it safe to dryburn the Orchid v6? (Just to test the coils make sure their burning evening from the middle outward properly) that way I dont wick and saturate the cotton in juice to find out its an issue with the coil not heating properly etc.

I have a sigelei 150 watt, hoping it pairs nicely with the v6. I can test the ohmage of the dual coil with the box and was planning on dry burning it just to make sure the build is solid so please someone lemme know if dryburning is harmful at all to the v6.(I know with kangers it can burn the rubber grommets or something)

Such a newb! I apologize asking such rudimentary questions, but everyone has to start somewhere :)

My Orchid build is on this page:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...s-anthology-pictorial-builds-reviews-147.html

One tip is that after you install the first coil, push it down. Then your leads for your second coil won't go through or beneath it. Make sure your post screws are tight. Check your build with an ohm meter. Do a second check with the chimney on to make sure a coil or snipped lead isn't shorting on it.

Have fun :)

Orchid's hittin like a champ! Might need to cut my nicotine down a bit tho. Im currently using 40 mg that I made of tfa juicy fruit :)... But after first trying with the increased cloud production Im sure im getting more nicotine with each inhale now, and it really hit me hard but in a good way didnt feel sick just relaxed and with sort of a head rush.

Didnt get the coils mounted properly on the 1st or 2nd attempt, but 3rd time indeed was a charm. Did 8 wraps of 26G around a 1/8 bit for a 0.6 ohm dual coil. I found what helped alot is getting each coil in some tweezers and torching it with a butane lighter then squeezing coil to get it down in size. Wicking with the Japanese cotton was easiest part, thanks roxynoodle, used your method there. On my sigelei box I got it set to about 28 watts, but have gone as high as 40 so far. At 40 it seemed a bit hot but not burnt at all which is a good sign.

What is a good wattage for the Orchid with an 0.6 ohm coil? Just personal preference or is their a sweet spot anyone can recommend, thanks!

Yeah everyones different I just have a high tolerance to most everything. Most people think I use too much and with the orchid perhaps I am, but I like that feeling you get when you sort of overdone it. Like when I first smoked a cigarette or took my first dip. Actually used to vape 48 mg, but for the past few months cut down to 40 :)

I just press the button on the sigelei for maybe 2 seconds at most and I get great clouds. Before I would be pressing it for 5 or more seconds sometimes 10 second draw just to get decent clouds.... Loving this sigelei 150 pairs nicely with the orchid for sure. =)
