Hi guys,

I'm just wondering if something is wrong with my taste buds. My first week of vaping included RY 4 on an EGO-T and it was all good. Come week 2 and I received a huge shipment of different juices from various vendors, and I'm trying them all and they taste good initially, but after the first 2 drags...they all start tasting bland, and somewhat the same.

Do you guys experience this?

My mileage varies - my wife and I have eGo-Ts and I get different concentrations of flavor/experience when using the attys. They almost have their own taste personality. And totally different when I go to regular or LR cartos. I'm still trying to find a good mix, but have all accessories on hand. Got some grape juice in last night, and I didn't get knocked over when dripping a few drops in to taste test. The wife's eGo tank brings out the flavor a ton, and my cartos - so-so.

I also notice an after-taste. Not sure if it's the PG/VG or nic that I'm tasting. It's similar to drinking a diet drink, and the saccharine/nutrisweet after-taste lingers in your mouth 20 minutes after you drank it. The vape after-taste is subtle, and it doesn't bother me, but I generally like a lot of flavor in my juice to cover up the after-taste.

Some may say to steep the juice for a week or two, and come back to it to see if it helps. Generally, I anticipate a bursting flavor when I vape, and when it doesn't happen, I shelf the juice. Or, I'll try the other cartos to see if one delivers a better experience. And combine that with the variance in flavor that each vendor manufactures, it can become hard to find a flavor mix that consistently delivers.

So many variables are involved.
The atty
The juice
Your taste buds
Moisture level in your mouth
Ambient temps

I find that I tend to hit the passthrough so much that after a while I can't taste the juice and my mouth is dry. Water doesn't seem to help but I find carbonated beverages do wonders.

I also match my juice with what I am or have eaten. If I am eating stuff on the sweet side, I go with RY4.
Stuff like beef, potatoes, and other more muted flavors work fine with Watermelon or any other sweet juice.

Sometimes I just have to walk away and let my buds adjust.

I'm thinking it's either my atty's or my tastebuds, rather than other factors (after reading what you guys have said).

I started off with an LR atty on the ego T, then after a few days I switched to the default atty that came with my starter kit. It was good. Then this week, all of a sudden I can't taste .... after the first burst.

I've been changing back and forth between the atty's and also changing flavors constantly to see if it makes any difference. Nada.

I'm gonna try this next:

1. brand new LR atty (my last backup)
2. Gonna go drink a can of coke now

It might be jolly well the atty, coz if i leave the atty alone for an hour and come back, the first 2 puffs are awesome. Then right after.. no taste. Can my taste buds die off that quick? This happens on a daily basis.

Mech

PS: i'm just about to order some mega dual coil cartomizers from HC and also a 510 atty with a drip tip to try. I want more flavor and warmer vapor. This cold stuff is really pissin' me off :)

If you think i'm making the wrong purchase guys, please someone stop me in the next 20 mins. I'll wait for suggestions.

Rule #1 to proper testing: Only change one variable at a time. :)

Either change the atty or drink the coke. If you do them both you will not know what solved the problem (if it solves).

Something else to try. Use the atty and then once the flavor is gone, leave it for 5 minutes and try again.
If the flavor comes back, repeat the process. If it keeps working after a short time I would say you have a problem with the liquid wicking into the atty.

LOL. Okay i'll go grab some chocolate..think i still have some left in the pantry. Will report back shortly

MissEerie:

Gee, i think my taste buds are truly shot. It ain't the atty. Took a little chunk of chocolate and it tasted strange to me. I went back to vape my RY4 and it tasted slightly better.

I have found for myself after the first couple of days flavors become tasteless to me. I really love a flavor when i first use it then i can't taste it... actually so much so, i quit vaping for like 6months just started again last week, and everything tasted awesome... now im back to no taste again, its a curse.

Geez Teabagger, that's not good news for either of us. What did you do for the 6 months? U went back to analogues?

I tried the trick with the carbonated drink - Coke really. Took a big mouthful and left it sitting in my mouth for 30 secs. I could feel it fizzling around on my tongue. I took a vape right after and hey presto, taste came back. After a few more drags, I couldn't taste the RY4 again.. *sigh*

That's why I have a minimum of two flavors available at all times. Preferably two that tickle different buds. :p

I think this proves the theory that it's your buds and not the PV. :)
The PV would be an easier problem to fix but at least now you know. How frequent do you vape? I find that when I am on a pass through it's constant and that's where the problem starts for me. I have to actively space out vape sessions to every 1/2 to avoid lazy buds.
