I think it is just going to be a "Learn to deal with it" thing for me. I am still feeling really positive about it all!

For me it's been a matter of experimenting. I'm now pressing the button a couple seconds before beginning a slow, 5 or 6 second draw into my mouth. I release the button only a couple seconds into my draw so the juice is only seeing around 4 or 5 seconds "cook time". Then I begin a gentle inhale, mixing air from nose & mouth with the vapor & paying attention to how everything feels during the entire process.

Though over the years most of my smoking has been cigarettes I've also gotten into cigars & lots of pipes, & vaping is more like smoking either of these to me because I didn't inhale them as deeply as a cig, nor draw them as hurriedly.

One other thing, Pedaldog: I didn't notice if you mentioned the resistance of the cartos you bought, but if they're low resistance that could be the problem. (Please pardon me but I'm suffering a caffeine deficiency today & my head is filled with fuzz.) LR cartos also would not be advisable if you're using slim (cig-sized) batteries.

Hoping you find your comfort zone soon... Happy Vaping! :vapor:

I think I've made a breakthrough this evening!

I chucked the old carto's away and started afresh. The thing I realised is that I hadn't been filling them up so much and that might have been the reason for the cough, dry and hot if you see what I mean?
Did a big fill and, so far at keast, no hacking just a few little coughs here and there.

Hi to the OP (original poster) As I was reading thru this thread I was thinking exactly that was your problem. The cartos take much more fluid then the atties do. If you puff on a dry carto even an experienced vaper will cough up a lung!!! Keep them wet and after every few drags add a couple 2 - 5 drops and you should never have a dry hit (draty hit) again. Good luck to you and congrats on the quit. I never thought I could quit, (tried everything a few times) but after 32 years of smoking, I manged to quit the first day I used my ecigz

Good luck and vape strong!!

I'll second the carto-tank, or pick up some tankomizers of a different variety (the Riva-T is one of my favorites) which visibly show you how much liquid's left. That way, you get a hit that doesn't make you cough nearly as much. I actually switched away from cartos because I'd end up hitting them dry, and I hated that coughing and the taste... something that has a tank has been the way to go for me, at least. :)
