I think I might end up being one of those people that start with an e-cig and never look back. I haven't had a real cigarette since my kit from DietSmokes came on Friday afternoon.

This is incredible to me, I can't count how many times I've tried to quit and given in within a day or two. I haven't made it longer than a week since I was 15 years old...just figured I had no willpower and this would kill me.

I can't express how happy I am that this technology has come out. I still would *like* a cigarette, but it's not a struggle every single minute like it was in my previous attempts. I even went to a party last night, hung out with chain smoking friends around a bonfire, and didn't take even one drag from an analog! (That was tough, though!)

Thank you so much for being such a helpful, informative community. :) I for one couldn't be doing this without you all.

Annastasia, you ARE doing it, you make up your mind and go!
I walked away from 44 years of heavy smoking in one day. Two months+ ago.
I won't go back, just get set so you have batteries and atomizers and juice ahead, you'll need to be prepared so you don't have to worry about being stranded with no ecig...that way you will have no reason to panic, you want to keep that comfort zone within reach. Learn to RELAX and enjoy! Try not to become fanatical about it like so many of us are!!
This is an amazing thing.

im extremely happy this device has come into my life as well. i never had any intention of quitting because im love with the smoking rituals and the social part of it. but always thought about the health risk and was tired of being slowed down by analogs. cancer runs in my family and im almost positive analogs woulda been the reason for my demise. ive converted 5 of my cousins to vaping and as far as cigarettes go, they are a thing of the past for us.

I can honestly say that these devices are saving the lives of me and my family

Good advice! I'm already worrying a bit that my order of spare parts won't come before my current starter set breaks down. So far, it's been working just perfectly though, so fingers crossed.

I can see how this could get to be a *very* expensive hobby, lol.

Okay, I need a pep talk.

I had a horrible day at work today, but kept the proverbial faith and didn't smoke an analog all day long, even though everyone I work with smokes. As I was walking (late) out the door after a long, terrible shift I got into a tiff with my boss, *still* didn't smoke.

Came home though, and the computer that I run my freelance design business from is fried. I have no money to replace it right now, and I was in the middle of a job for one of the biggest clients I've ever worked for...I smoked two cigarettes. Argh!

So on top of having a terrible day, I feel bad about myself for being a wuss and smoking. They didn't even taste good.

Back on the trusty 901 now, and coping, but still very cranky. Sorry, just had to vent.

Put the whip back in the closet.

You've been a cigarette smoker for how long? Long time, probably. They were your friend in times of trouble. Always there to help you through. Today, you hit a bump. Your old friend begged to help you through.

But for all the right reasons, you realize this cigarette is not your friend. Friends don't kill friends. So you've found a new way to get through trouble. You'll pick it up again and stick with it next time. Advice: Never call yourself an ex-smoker until you've survived funerals and financial crisis and unemployment without turning to a cigarette.

Sorry for your troubles and as a person who freelances from home on a single computer, I feel your pain!

Thanks, Tropical Bob. :) Ya, I smoked for 15 years, ever since I was 14...Really have a hard time even imagining myself without a cigarette or *something* in my hand. I think your advice about being able to weather funerals, etc without smoking is very wise.

I was a little shocked that, after only 3 days of not smoking regulars, the taste and feel of it was really kind of gross. Never had that happen before. I didn't like the soggy paper feel in my mouth or the acrid smoke...I think I'm already learning to prefer a metal tip to clench in my teeth a la Hunter S. Thompson, and a nice sweet taste in my mouth. Funny how that worked out!

Oh and update: roomate rescued my computer for me, but my boss is still a jerk. :)

Thanks again. <3

Quitting update, if anyone's interested!

Day #12! I haven't made it this long without a cigarette in years. Today was tough, too. I got stuck downtown, lost on the new bus mall layout, and both my back-up batteries died, along with my atomizer, which seemed to be clogged up or stuck somehow. I made it home without stopping at a store to buy regular smokes, though I admit the thought crossed my mind.

The only thing that sucks is the crap I still take from friends and family about using e-cigs: They feel I'm not really quitting since I'm still sucking down the nicotine. How is this any different, though, than using the patch or gum? Argh. I think people's perceptions are just influenced when they see me happily "smoking" away. It's like they think I'm having too easy a time of it. Maybe I am.

Anyway, still happy as a clam with ze e-cig, glad to be quit and thinking it's gonna stick this time. :) Thanks again for all your support, love this forum.

I know! The pleasure Police are everywhere! What is wrong with having an easier time of it? What is so bad about the pleasure of smoking with out the health problem? The experts say quit smoking tobacco, not quit using nicotine. Good luck, keep it up!
