Amber Dragon

FA Liquid Amber 7%
VZSC Dragonfruit 1.5%**
TFA Sweetener (sucralose) 2-4 drops (per 10ml) or to taste
Lorann Tart & Sour 1 drop per 10ml
maybe one drop of EM if you want

This is best with 3 to 4 days steeping. It's good after 1 day with a hot water bath and lid off after mixing until it cools down, but the T&S is too much for me at even that one drop.

**I have my drops set to 36 per ml in the calculator I use. That comes out to 5.4 drops for this recipe, I use 6 drops per 10ml.

This isn't a strong eliquid. I'm moving away from the stronger and bakery eliquids these days. It's hard to describe but mostly I'd say refreshing. It does change quite a bit. Higher voltage and the Liquid Amber is deeper and the tart can come out and be a little bite-y on the tongue, but the sweet Dragonfruit exhale is divine and blows the bite away. Lower voltage and it's sweet and fresh like a breeze off the ocean. I'm not waxing poetic either. lol That's what it tastes like to me. And the liquid smells so good I want to bathe in it. :) I've been vaping this for a week straight now.

It's a hard flavor to describe. You know how Oba Oba is hard to describe? It's like that but different.

I read one review that said if you like margaritas you'll like it. I get what they mean...but not really. Maybe if you had a really cold margarita and you took a big smell of it- kinda lime, fresh, a little tart. Saying it tastes like that smell might come a little close. But not really.

Just started in with the Liquid Amber and to me it tastes like honeysuckle. Its quite good. Mixed mine with some caramel and Catalan Cream and its really nice after only a one day rest. Looking forward to see what its like after a longer steep.

Don't have the Dragon Fruit or T&S, might have to add those to the next order.

I was just now getting ready to mix up a 10ml trial of Amber Dragon, and remembered I had some samples of Liquid Amber mixed up (7.5% & 10%), so I grabbed my atty and dripped in a few drops of 10% to refresh my memory...and then got to mixing it in my mind with Dragonfruit. 'Seems like this'd be really good. Then I remembered I had a 5ml bottle of Lyndas Lucious to which I'd added 4 drops of Dragonfruit...so I dripped in some of that with the LA (trying to ignore the cotton candy flavor).

WOW, you're a friggin' vape-gourmet-genius! Scratch that 10ml bottle, I'm mixing up 60ml!!! ('Wishing I had VZ Dragonfruit, but I'll go with around 6% of the TFA and order some VZ asap) - even if it needs tweaked, I can tell it'll still be awesome.

WOOHOO, off to the "lab" I go! :)

Imo, this recipe deserves FAR more than a typical "yum-my-new-adv-I-vaped-a-gallon-yesterday!" comment.

The original recipe:
Amber Dragon

FA Liquid Amber 7%
VZSC Dragonfruit 1.5%**
TFA Sweetener (sucralose) 2-4 drops (per 10ml) or to taste
Lorann Tart & Sour 1 drop per 10ml
maybe one drop of EM if you want

This is best with 3 to 4 days steeping. It's good after 1 day with a hot water bath and lid off after mixing until it cools down, but the T&S is too much for me at even that one drop.

I've been vaping this for a week straight now.

We did not have VZ's SC Dragonfruit, so I substituted TFA. I'm not fond of 'sweet juices' (and I disklike using sucralose), so I lessened the sweetener. This may have altered the results substantially...yet after 3 days of vaping, I'm still excited over it!

Liquid Amber FA 7%
Dragonfruit TFA 6%
Tart & Sour LA (original recipe = 1 drop per 10ml/5.5 drops for 55 ml; I used 6 drops)
Sweetener TFA (original recipe = 2-4 drops per 10ml or to taste/11-22 drops for 55 ml; I used 6 drops)

--55 ml total; glass bottle; steeped in heated ultrasonic for 2 hours
--Tasted on a Cisco Spec 2.5ohm Standard Resistance Atomizers - varied from 3.6 to 4.4 voltage. Oh yeah, oh yes - this is even better than I expected!
--Immediately filled a waiting Davide Mini Glassomizer 2.2 resistance) and was thrilled to find glasseye's description was almost exactly what I'm experiencing!

It is changing a bit as it 'sit steeps' - I think the flavors are melting together and creating a vape with more richness & depth. I think I'd like a bit more tartness personally.

'Got the VZ SC Dragonfruit yesterday (it smells 'sweeter' than the TFA to us), but it's so hard to tell anything 'by smell' with the SC's. Hopefull I'll be brewin' up a batch using the VZ over the weekend.

Thank you, glasseye for creating & sharing such a delightful recipe!

That's excellent we2rcool! You are very welcome! ECF has so many awesome members that share recipes, I'm glad I could contribute.

You sound like me, recipes are more of a guideline than a rule. lol It still kind of floors me that such a simple recipe can change like this one. I still need to pick up some TFA Dragonfruit and compare them. Let us know what you think on that score!

Okay, finally - I've mixed up a batch with VZ's SC Dragonfruit @ 1.5% (where before I used TFA Dragonfruit @ 6%)

Original recipe:
FA Liquid Amber 7%
VZSC Dragonfruit 1.5%**
TFA Sweetener (sucralose) 2-4 drops (per 10ml) or to taste
Lorann Tart & Sour 1 drop per 10ml
maybe one drop of EM if you want

How I made it with TFA's Dragonfruit:
Liquid Amber FA 7%
Dragonfruit TFA 6%
Tart & Sour LA (original recipe = 1 drop per 10ml/5.5 drops for 55 ml; I used 6 drops)
Sweetener TFA (original recipe = 2-4 drops per 10ml or to taste/11-22 drops for 55 ml; I used 6 drops because I don't usually sweeten juices at all)

How I made it wth VZ's SC Dragonfruit (55 ml bottle)
Liquid Amber 7%
VZ's SC Dragonfruit 1.5%
Tart n' Sour 6 drops
Sweetener - none  (the VZ Dragonfruit smells much sweeter than the TFA. I do not care for 'sweet juices' - so I left it out completely knowing I could add it later).

Ultrasonic steep - 2 hours

Right out of the ultrasonic --

WHOA, where did the Dragonfruit go (?) I can barely taste it! But I'm lovin' the tartness - and what I can taste/smell of the Dragonfruit is MUCH better than TFA.

8 hours later --

Hmmm, is that a bit more Dragonfruit coming through? methinks so, maybe.

'Still diggin' on the tartness (and seriously thinking about putting a few mls in another bottle and adding a splash of Key Lime :)) The flavor of Liquid Amber has been described (on ECX reviews - and in this thread/above) as being somewhat like a margarita. It is, and it isn't at all (the LA), but it certainly pushes my brain toward Margaritaville.

With the same amount of Tart n' Sour, this one seems substantially more tart (at this point) than the one with TFA's Dragonfruit did.

BUT, TFA's Dragonfruit (just like TFA's Pineapple) is extremely intense with a massive hit of that "acridness" that's found in many tropical fruits (pineapple, mango, papaya, dragonfruit) - so perhaps the 'acridness' covered up the Tart n' Sour aspects in the TFA version.

One I know for sure at this point, 6% TFA Dragonfruit was definitely TOO MUCH!

24 hours later -- ::::sitting on hands trying not to add more VZ Dragonfruit 'till it's steeped for 4 days::: ARGH!
Still, the VZ Dragonfruit seems to be 'coming through' a bit more every time I test it.
It's still on the tart side (I think most would say "too tart"), but I'm diggin' it

2-3-ish days later --

Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes indeedy - the Dragonfruit is coming out a bit more ...but wait, is that the Tart n' Sour starting to fade? ::::still sitting on hands while dying to add .5-1% more Dragonfruit::: I am wishing I'd never made/tasted it with the TFA Dragonfruit (or used much less than I did). I think the 'too much' kinda-maybe-probably messed up my being able to relish 'just right'.

Still, I'm having no problem vaping 1ml at a time here - no problem at all!

***

Okay, it's been 7 days...and the Dragonfruit has emerged further (yay!), and the tart has 'sat down' a bit more.

I'm going to add .5% of the VZ SC Dragonfruit - but I don't think most people would need/want 'more dragonfruit' if they'd made the original recipe 'as written'...and hadn't 'overwhelmed their taste-buddies' with too much TFA Dragonfruit.

Thank you glasseye, for a great recipe that's been in my daily rotation for almost 2 months - and will likely have a significant place there 'for forever'!

That is an awesome write-up! I pretty much want it every day too. I've streamlined the original and don't even bother with the tart and sour anymore. A few drops of sweetener and I'm good to go.

I'm glad you're enjoying it! Thanks for the comparison too. I bought the TFA dragonfruit but haven't even cracked it open. lol
