I wrote and email to Mr. Sherin, President of the American Association of Public Health Physicians thanking him for his open mind on a fair evaluation of the e-cig. He actually sent me an email back:

Dear Mr. Sherin,

I want to thank you for your open mind when it comes to a fair evaluation of the E-cigarette. I have been a 20 year smoker and have been smoke free for the first time in my life. You would not believe the improvement in my health. Once there is a fair evaluation of the E-Cig and "analog" or traditional I am hopeful that we all can make informed decisions.

Again, thank you for your open mind.

From: Mr. Sherin aaphp.or g

You bet. I think they can help many smokers. If we endorse the concept in some way, I wonder if my association, aaphp.or g can receive an educational grant from a company to help educate physicians. Kevin

Well, at least it is one more voice that is not a voice of opposition. I hope others especially in the medical field will have the courage to step up and say "lets look at this device and see if there is a benefit to society". Not just discourage its use just because it has the word "cigarette".

I maintain an email database of those in opposition to the e-cig and try to write at least one email a day to them. I hope others in this forum will let there voices be heard now before a ban. Once there is a ban, I think it will be nearly impossible to over turn. Now is the time to act.

No offense, but what is "ludicrous" is a defeatist attitude. The e-cig is quickly becoming an billion dollar industry. Manufacturers and Retailers have a vested interest opposing a ban. In my opinion, they have a vested interest keeping the American market open to the product.

I, unfortunately would have to disagree. While you're correct that it has the potential to be a billion dollar industry it will do so at an expense of many billions of dollars to two of the largest and most powerful industries in the United States. The tobacco industry and the pharmaceutical industry. If it comes down to the golden rule "he who has the gold makes the rules".....we lose.
