Except that the American Cancer Society continues lobbying/suing FDA to ban all vapor product sales on 8/8/2018 (next week), lobbying FDA to ban flavored vapor products, lobbying to tax vapor products at the same rate as cigarettes, lobbying to ban vaping in all workplaces, and lobbying to force taxpayers and insurers to subsidize Big Pharma’s smoking cessation products.

ACS’s new ENDS policy statement at
https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.3322/caac.21455
falsely claims combustible tobacco product use causes “up to 98% of tobacco-related deaths”, references 2014 op/ed in NEJM by Fiore, Baker & Schroeder as source
NEJM - Error
But Fiore, Baker & Schroeder falsely claimed “up to 98% of tobacco-related deaths are attributable to combustible products” and referenced AAPHP’s 2010 Citizens Petition to FDA at
https://www.aaphp.org/Resources/Documents/20100207FDAPetition2.pdf
that never claimed or suggested smoking causes up to 98% of tobacco related deaths, but rather that urged the FDA to correct its false claims about e-cigarettes at its 7/22/09 press conference.

In fact, cigarette smoking causes >99% of tobacco-attributable morbidity, disability, mortality, and healthcare costs in the US.

Very interesting read, thanks for posting - I did not find any information in the links relating to the ACS Lobbying / suing the FDA to ban all vapor product sales on 08082018, lobbying FDA to ban Flavored vapor products etc etc.

I also see that there is a disclaimer in these articles - did you see this?

I don't have any info on their lobbying, but I think this is the lawsuit Bill was referring to.

In 2009, ACS lobbied FDA to unlawfully ban all e-cigs, and defended FDA's unlawful ban in federal court from 2009-2011 (in collusion with CTFK, AHA, ALA, AAP, Legacy).

From 2011-2016, ACS (in collusion with its vapor prohibitionist allies) lobbied FDA to impose the Deeming Rule, which banned sales of vapor products that weren't on the market on 8/8/2016, banned truthful health claims about vapor products, required false fearmongering warnings on vapor products, and banned sales of all other vapor products on 8/8/2018 (next week), the latter of which was delayed until 8/8/2022 by FDA Cmsnr Gottlieb last year.

Back in April, ACS colluded with its vapor prohibitionist allies in demanding FDA denounce and crack down on JUUL (because it has helped many smokers quit smoking in the past year), which prompted Gottlieb to repeat the same unsubstantiated claims against JUUL.
FDA Takes Important Steps to Address Youth Use of Juul E-Cigarettes, but Must Do More – Agency Should Prevent Introduction of Kid-Friendly Tobacco Products Instead of Acting After the Fact

ACS also opposes smokers gradually switching to vaping (via dual use), and opposes any cigarette smoking by vapers.
