Good post Snow. I've said this before in other threads but it bears mentioning again - I think V4L does need to venture more into this area. We all grow in our vaping knowledge/needs as time progresses and most of us eventually want to go out exploring. I, for one, would definitely like to give my $ to V4L if they offered these kind of things.

Here's a mid-level product that I found:
45912-Where-To-Buy-1300mah-Auto-E-cigarette-Battery-1.jpg

The ECHO battery. It's made by a company in China called Hangsen and is available by many different retailers here. The diameter is almost exactly that of a 3.5ml tank. It comes in a few different mah levels. I have a couple of the 1300mah, which are shorter than a V4L XL battery. It's 808 threaded and goes seamlessly onto a V4L tank, so no gap for those that are annoyed with the aesthetics of the EGO. It's automatic, so no button to worry about. It has a short charge time (2-3 hours from what I've seen for the most part) and lasts forever. I can use one on a 1.5ohm tank for over a full day with heavy usage. The price is great as well. They run for about $15-20. Very good for what you get.

Now. I'm not just trying to pimp non-V4L products here. As I said, I'd like to be able to buy these kind of things from V4L. But I don't just want V4L to carry these. I want them to take this design and evolve it. Improve on it. I have faith that they can. Although these batteries are good, they only maintain about a 3.7v charge. That's OK, but could be a bit better. Also, the cutoff is only 4 seconds or so, which is extremely annoying. Just when you're starting to get a decent hit it cuts off and you have to puff an additional time or two. Finally, they can be a little finicky when first screwing them onto the tank as to whether it will fire or not. Sometimes it takes some adjustment before you're off and running.

This is something that I think V4L could really run with. It's already 808 so it goes right along with the rest of the V4L line. It fits on the tanks like it was made specifically for it. If they could improve the output and cutoff time, I would be more than willing to buy these at a higher price point ($25-35+). Come on V4L. Things have been a bit stale around here for a long time now. We need something to get us all raving again! :)

510 is a female thread socket verses an 808 which is Male. So with the male threads if you were to drop it and they landed on the thread you could damage the actual threading, or even internals because of the drop force landing on a post that extends beyond the main body of the mod. 510 fittings are flush so the threads are protected from external danger, and if it were to drop the whole shell of the mod is going to absorb some of the shock instead of it hitting directly on the post of an 808.

Thanks, Whistles! That makes perfect sense now. :)

I did get an Echo a few months ago. I guess I wasn't ready for it, I really didn't like it. I thought being an auto it would be right for me. Didn't like the draw, the cartos I got with it fried my juice, it was fat, it had a whopping big blue led end and it was just not me. I actually threw it out. Lol, should've kept it, maybe I would use it now.

Yeah I didn't like mine at first either katz, but they've grown on me. Like I said, the draw is just...OK. It doesn't give the 4.2v kick of the VK batteries and the cutoff is way too short. I haven't tried the cartos, only 1.5ohm tanks. The ones I got are supposedly newer than the ones with the LED on the end. They scrapped that and just put a little pinhole on the side near the end that lights up.

They do the job as far as battery life though. I use 2 tanks at a time and I kill both XL manual VKs every couple of hours on the 1.5ohms.

Again, there's definitely room for improvement and I would think that if V4L could work out the kinks it could be a HUGE seller. A very good battery that's perfect for the tanks and well priced as well as keeping the 808 standard.

The ECHO battery...snip

That thing sounds wonderful. I'm actually shopping around for something right now and I've been pointed at a few different things including the amp xl, volt x2, and the iTurbo auto battery from a different vendor.

My ideal piece is a 808 threaded 650mah automatic battery with a soft touch classic finish like black and gold, or cigar leaf (maybe with a V4L wrap logo?), with a passthrough and VV option (somehow, maybe put the twist on the logo?) that can sit flush with a tank or CE4 clearo, and has an LED that glows as a subtle ring around the end (or maybe as the passthrough cap) as a battery indicator - red at full, orange at 25%, and has a cone fitting for cartos. But that's all just a dream....

I have a regular fantasy

808 medium sized battery, automatic, silky finish, LED display, VV 3-6 Volts with a small single button, 4A limit....and 2000 mAh LOL

A guy can dream

That aside, incorporating 510 gear and VV gear into my arsenal was more a function of wanting different atomizer options. I can't stand cartomizers anymore. Clearomizers ruined them for me. And then atomizers ruined clearomizers for me. And then I got into RBAs, and now my vaping is 50/50 atomizer/RBA

I still reach for a Diamond/Titan with my .357 901 1.5 ohm, and its a pocket sized monster

Another confirmed case of PV ADD....and you thought you would never grow up to be a Wrapper. :) How many wraps are you doing on the merry-go-round these days?
