I'll be hitting my 3 month mark for vaping this week and I've been reflecting on my e-cig journey.

I started with a 901... moved to an 801... then a 401... then the Kissbox... then the 510... then the screwdriver.

I ordered the Prodigy and then last week ordered the GG. Got to try them all I figure.

And all this in less than 3 months' time period. Whew!!

My son and I both started vaping together and we took to it right off. We totally switched from the start.

My son is still with his 901 and is quite happy with it. He has no desire to move up the e-cig line so to speak.

We both started with 18 mg nic and are now vaping 12-14 mg nic. I took a shot at a higher nic liquid and that experience I definitely don't want to have happen again.

So I am wondering why is it that I feel the need to move up to the higher volt e-cigs and my son is ok with his 901? Why are some of us satisfied with the auto-switch 901/801 while others need to move up to the manual switch mega volt e-cig?

I know the throat hit factor plays a very very important part in my vaping satisfaction. Maybe that's the key and I'm just looking for more of it.

Maybe if there weren't so many choices I wouldn't feel the need to experience them all!

Well, no matter what it is - it's kept my son and I off ciggies and for that I am truly grateful. :)

For me, throat hit is key. I get frustrated if I can't get a good throat hit. Some people don't need it to be content. I started with the 901 also and moved up to an 801. I analyzed my desire for the next new and improved version and decided that I am searching for the "perfect" vape machine and I don't think there is one. I suspect that no matter what I get, there will be some shortcomings and I will always think the next new and improved model will be worth the money I'd be spending on it because it would fix all the issues. Then I read something on the forums about the model I'm eying and realize that no matter what you get, there will be issues. I've decided to try my hand at building one of my own with a manual switch (for throat hit) and bigger batteries utilizing the "how to" instructions I have found on here. Not sure which I will build or how much better it will be than the last one I bought or if my issues will be solved, but it will be cheaper and I can always try building a different mod if I'm not happy with the last one without agonizing over how much I spent on it.

Higher volts/power simply makes for better and more consistent throat hit, IMO. If you are passing a car on a two lane highway, do you want to be driving a VW Bug or a 350ZX? I want to be sure I am going to get around that car.

Yes, I know the higher volts/power give us that quality consistent throat hit.

I'm looking forward to the throat hit from the 5-6 volt Prodigy and GG.

But since we all are/were smokers why do some of us need that punch and want more of it and others not?

That was mostly what I was curious about.

Maybe it has to do with the way people inhale. I get a fantastic throat hit with hardly any draw if I inhale into my lungs. If my batteries are real low, that's what I do. But my normal way of inhaling is to pull into my mouth then inhale and I get no throat hit at all when my batteries are weak.

A lot of us simply enjoy testing them all. There is a reason basking robbins has 31 flavors. There are also those who like sprinkles, nuts, cherries and chocolate sauce. Even though there were hundreds of cigarette brands they all tasted close enough there was no reason to try them all

I certainly enjoy trying different devices - I used to do the same when I was a tobacco pipe smoker. That's all part of the "hobby" end of this for me.

A lot of it depends on whether you're trying to replicate or replace the smoking experience. If the former then no matter how many devices you try you'll not find what you're after imho. If the latter - e-cigs are excellent at this!

I think for me it's both - replicate and replace.

Replicate - to duplicate, copy, reproduce, or repeat:
Replicate or reproduce the act of smoking with the hand-to-mouth, throat hit, smoke-to-vapor, nicotine satisfaction. I mean we are actually simulating/replicating the act of smoking with these PVs. And I know this is why these e-cigs are working for me when everything else has failed. That's why gum, patches, lozenges, etc, has not worked for me - these only give you one thing - nicotine.

Replace - substitute one thing for another:
Replace my nicotine addiction with a safer alternative (safer until proven otherwise).
