I run one of the Internets largest electronic cigarette guides on another forum I post on, and I'm in the process of migrating all of my information to a dedicated site so it can reach its real potential and get to more people in so few words.

How can I go about posting it on ECF? My understanding is I need permission from a staff member to post the link, so I won't post it here until I get confirmation. I'm not selling anything, there's no ads, no nothing: just information and advice.

I've covered things like how hardware works, nicotine safety and handling, the different type of atomizers, vaping culture, etc. On my site, however, I've only got a few topics to start. I've got some 20,000 words on the aforementioned forum and all of it is being revised, updated, and rewritten before I migrate it.

The way the guide is structured is that it's split into three parts:

1. Beginner topics
2. Advanced topics
3. Expert topics

And each topic is then divided into a simple explanation, and a "further reading" explanation which covers the more scientific/physiological/advanced description (ie. if you're new to e-cigs you go to the first category; if you want to learn more, to the second category).

I'd love to post it here.

I would PM one of the mods and ask them about it but before posting all your info here and it would be an idea to check out the new members forum first anyway. There is a lot of information there and links to very detailed explanations and a part by part by guide to everything new converts would need to know.

I would check there first to make sure you are not duplicating the information already there with your own guide.

Hi Stratzilla. I suspect that you could post a link to your site and it would not be any kind of issue. However, to make sure you can PM a moderator and ask. Look at the bottom of the General E-Smoking Discussion page and you'll see the mods listed. I would try Dusty_D.

Looking forward to checking out your guide :thumb:

There's obviously some overlap (everyone talks about the same thing), but what I think sets me apart is that I have a degree in writing and am involved with vendors and shops and have a kind of presence on other forums as "the e-cig guy".

Maybe another guide mentions something about xyz, but I like to think I go the extra mile and talk about wxyz instead.

Not saying I'm the most knowledgable person about vaping--because I'm not--I just think my writing style sets me apart.

I still don't understand that issue about when it is or isn't ok to post a link to an outside blog. Might want to click on the Contacts button up top and e-mail the question, and the site link, directly to one of the administrators for an answer.

Good call, but there is no option to ask about information sites. I can understanding requesting permission to post a review site, or your own personal vendor, but to post an environment where people can learn should be open game in my opinion.

Suggest you use the following from the Contacts page:

"ECF Forum Manager

The ECF Forum Manager deals with registration issues, membership inquiries, members’ accounts, username changes and general matters relating to the running of the forum.

If you wish to contact the forum manager, please open a ticket via our support system."

Or a mod.

That's usually the rub - there's a not so thin line between an external personal blog as opposed to being what is defined as a supplier associate who is "involved" with vendors. That will be one point regarding your site that will need review. It sounds like the sight may cross the line from "personal info blog" to "vendor and supplier reviewer" as well. See here for more info and to see if your site will be accepted for registration. => Contact: ECF Reviewers Manager

Maybe I worded it a little poorly. I'm not a vendor nor do I work for any vendor; I am friends with vendors, however, and have even worked for a vendor (doing web development). My guide is devoid of outsider influence, and no vendor is telling me to make it. Additionally, there is no mention of vendors in my guide (ie. I don't say "shop at xyz.com" or "consider checking out abc.ca", etc).

I'll contact one of the mods to see whats what, though. Thanks!

I suggest you do PM a mod. There is a rule about link to blogs that came up before. It was quite awhile ago, but there was a lady with a blog and members were posting links to it, but when she joined ECF and posted a link it got deleted.

ETA: Here it is:

26. Linking to e-cigarette review websites or blogs
All e-cig review sites/blogs must be approved before their owners may link to them from ECF. To register, contact the Reviewers Manager via email - see the Contacts page.

No no no no no no. Individuals who have their own review/blogging site MUST get it approved before flogging it on ECF.

THIS! (Thanks Rickajho!)

Once the site is approved, you may then point to it on ECF.
